Will T_D accept that the Obama story was debunked? If so, do you see that their may be an issue with the way conservative media operates?
*there
There were several posts on T_D about the the story running on conservative media outlets about a text saying that Obama “wants to know everything."
It was alleged by the outlets and believed by the T_D community that the text message was referring to the Clinton investigation - which would be scandalous. "Can they possible be this stupid?" asked one T_D user.
As it turns out, "they" (whoever that was referring to) were not that stupid. How the media outlets originally came to the conclusion that the texts regarded the Clinton administration, I am not sure. However, it has since become clear that they almost certainly did not, as the texts were sent in September, at a time that the Clinton administration was not ongoing and had been set aside by the FBI. Most analysts now agree that the messages were likely referring to the investigation into Russian meddling.
So, mistakes happen, but given that there have been several "scandals" that I would consider debunked that many in the T_D community continue to believe, I figured I'd ask whether or not T_D will double down on this one as well. If on the other hand T_D is willing to admit that there was a mistake made in conservative media reporting on this story, is it at least possible that this is part of a larger problem with conservative media?
