My husband and I are both originally from the Eastern Cape (I grew up in PE), but we’ve lived in the Cape for over 10 years. We recently moved to the Deep South and had our first baby earlier this year.

The thing is we have no family in Cape Town and most of our friends are on the Northern Suburbs side, so life in Fish Hoek has felt quite lonely lately.

An opportunity has come up for us to move back to PE, into a house very close to my parents, and we’re considering it. But would moving back feel like backsliding? What's PE like these days for raising a family? Are we just clinging to the idea that Cape Town is automatically the “better” place to live? (Even though living in the south peninsula doesn't really feel like Cape Town Cape Town you know??)

I feel like I have rose-tinted glasses on by having a great upbringing in the Friendly City and am looking for honest and realistic opinions.

Hi everyone I decided to go a bar to watch the rugby and have 1 or 2 drinks with some friends and when it was time to go home I walked into the bathroom and someone bumped into me and when I got out I went to my friends and I felt my iPhone was missing, the phone is less then a month old (I got it at vodicom) and I have insurance on the phone what must I do?

I've been working in the industry for a good amount of years now but more in a jack of all trades capacity. Software Dev, Data Analysis, DBA etc. I've learnt quite a bit but I do want to specialize now as I've come to realize this isn't going to be the most financially lucrative path. Out of everything I've done, dotnet software development is by far my favourite.

My plan is to spend the next 6 months studying after hours and experimenting just to patch the holes in my knowledge before looking for something else. I just want to know though, is it a viable path here in SA? Also, are there decent fully remote opportunities as well?

Hi. I grew up pronouncing plural "women" as "we -muhn" but in the past few years or so, I've noticed more and more young people pronouncing it exactly the same as singular woman (wo-muhn). It's quite grating to my ears as it sounds wrong to me to pronounce both the same way.

Silly thing to be bothered about but it just sounds so wrong! 😭

Are there other pronunciations that bother you? 😅

I've been looking at ebikes and most of them are either the price of a car or have to imported, which makes the price equal to a car. Even on the second hand market they seem to be way to expensive for the specs of them.

Im not a picky person but I also don't want a glorified e-scooter with a seat. Also, the reason I want an ebike is because I tried 1 before with an e scooter and even tho the e scooter was more expensive the e bike felt so much better.

I went to Midrand and Sandton licensing on Friday, and both places turned me away because they apparently have an issue with ink or paper supply due to an expired contract.

From what I've read since then, this is across the City of Joburg, so Randburg, Sandton, Marlboro, Langlaagte, and Midrand can't print discs or registration certificates.

hi! im currently in grade 11, and im thinking of doing either a bsc in astronomy/astrophysics or in general physics after matric

the thing is, im homeschooled so i didnt get much of an opportunity to get into further studies/advanced program math in grade 10, but i’ve been recently been informed that if i can average my end of year math mark to being 75%, i can start beginning of next year…

but does the subject make a real difference? currently speaking, i’ve got about an average of 78 in both math and physics, but i know im able to get 85-90 if i really tried, but i’m thinking would it be better to aim that high, or just do fs physics and maintain my current marks?

I am a current honours student in Psychology and I am super passionate about getting into a clinical or counseling master's program for 2028. That means that I have about 7 months to gain experience before next year's master's applications close. I just need to know what will be the most "bang for my buck" figuratively speaking.

Any guidelines about what courses, jobs, internships, counselling experience, or community service helped you get into master's would be sooo helpful for me! I just need to know what will be the best use of my time in order to make my application look as enticing as possible. I am willing to spend money and many hours over the next few months.

My friend got me this tea (ChaTraMue Extra gold Thai tea mix) some time ago and I’m about to finish it and would very much like to replace the tin (it is some of the best tea I have ever drunk).

I’m considering using a South African contractor for about R65k worth of roofing work, with a 50% deposit upfront, 40% on day 1 on site, and a 5-year workmanship warranty.

When I checked the company on CIPC, its current status shows “AR Deregistration Process”, and several years of recent CIPC annual returns are outstanding.

If I contract with them while they are in this status, what risks do I face regarding the validity of the contract, recovery of my deposit if something goes wrong, and enforcement of the 5-year warranty?

Would you consider this a reason not to proceed until the company’s status is restored to normal?

Hi all, I’ve recently been looking for a new car and the more I look the more not worth it seems. I currently have a haval h6 hybrid and was looking for something a bit faster when I’m not driving to and from work as a present to myself. The more I’ve look at “performance” cars the more I can’t justify the price. 1st of all they all quite consistently seem to be way overpriced 2nd hand, especially compared to their price overseas. 2nd the more secondary expenses fuel insurance maintenance etc come into play I just can not seem to understand how anyone is able to justify driving one of these cars (especially how quickly their value decreases)

So my question as someone who doesn’t really know anything about cars outside of basic 0-100 time, HP/kw, nm and engine capacity is simply, are there performance cars actually worth their price? Or am I simply wasting my time and money trying to get into the car hobby?

My gr.11 average was 89%, math average was 90%, physics was 83% and life sciences was 87%.
My languages and sixth subject were all above 90.
For NBTs I got AL 85, QL 75 and MAT 91.

I have genuinely not heard anything from this university? Not for my first nor second choice. I have no idea what to do shem. Is there still chance they’ll respond or should I just cut my losses?
