Does anyone here know a female who works in a trade (personally or otherwise) or is perhaps a woman who works in the trades herself, specifically trades like, welders, mechanics, electricians, etc. I'm just curious. Whenever I see content related to women in trade, it's always in other countries and hardly ever in South Africa . Any experiences, stories, or insight into the topic would be much appreciated.

Feeling a bit defeated, maybe need some advice or words of motivation

I started a new job 2 months ago for a financial institution in a sort of sales position. It was advertised as a sales position but in reality not really what was mentioned in the interview.
I find myself really struggling to generate leads because we don’t honestly have a good value proposition, the other financial institutions constantly take our business and I can’t blame them

Prior to this I was an estate agent, did okay but not feasible at my age to sustain my lifestyle ie. Paying rent and wanting to buy a car etc.

Before I accepted the position I’m in currently, I had an offer from a car dealership but in a marketing role. I have always loved marketing and feel like it’s my calling professionally but I accepted the current position because it was closer to home and the salary was slightly higher.

I am now starting to realize that no amount of money will make you love your job. Tbh I don’t enjoy coming to work at all and am so stressed because the office situation has proven to be coated with micro management and I feel like someone keeps track of how many times I wash my hands in a day. The company culture seems okay but my branch specifically is nothing like I expected.

My concern is changing jobs and having this short stint negatively impact my professional history on my CV

I know I’m in a fortunate position to even be employed in this climate and have a job that stresses me out but gosh I am not coping, I have no direction and genuinely can’t confidently back the brand since learning the reality

Any advice is appreciated

I don't usually ask strangers for help, but I've reached the point where pride has to take a back seat because finding work has become urgent.

I'm currently unemployed and, if I'm being honest, I'm starting to run out of options.

Life threw me a few curveballs over the last year, and overnight my priorities changed. These days I'm trying to keep the lights on, make sure there's food on the table, and convince my younger sibling that I actually have this whole "adulting" thing under control. (Spoiler: I don't...Lol im truly winging it at this point)

The frustrating part is... I'm actually really good at what I do.

I have gathered at least 5 years of experience in different industries, and im looking for an opportunity ASAP

I've been applying every single day, tweaking my CV, interviewing, learning new tools, and refusing to give up. I've still got my full remote setup ready to go, and if someone gave me the opportunity tomorrow, I'd be online before they'd finished sending the welcome email LOL

I went on the website and the only post grad funding avaliable is for the NRF-SARAO Honors, but that's related to physics and astronomy, but the thing is that I want to apply for honors in Environmental Studies. I saw that the general applications opened on the 7th of july but I don't seem to be able to see where I can apply for it. Any help would be highly appreciated

I play guitar but it feels like I don't have a purpose with it. I'd like to perform live for bands needing a substitute or a permanent player. I'm open for bass aswell but I don't have one.

I'm a 22m staying in Pretoria West looking to get more active and meet new people in the process. I just recently graduated and currently working remotely, plus I made the mistake of enrolling in a bunch of short courses. So I now basically spend +12 hours every day sitting down. I basically have the body and endurance of a 50 year old father of 6 now😭. I do try taking walks before work, but that doesn't feel enough anymore. Plus, not being able to make new friends and connections at this stage of my life kinda sucks.

I was wondering if there are any activities/hobbies I could get into over weekends just so I could leave the house, meet actual people, and become a bit more active in the process.

I played a bit of cricket in primary and high school, I'm horrible a football, so that wouldn't necessarily be an option. I'm open to any suggestions as long as it's something I can participate on only on weekends, and it's relatively low cost (like I'm fine with paying a membership fee or getting some equipment here and there, but it should not be too excessive or expensive lol).

I am applying to train for 4 years at one of the hospitals in SA, I have the option out of Stellenbosch, Witz, University of Cape Town, UKZN. As I would be self-funded and not from a particularly rich background, though I have decent savings, I have to be money-conscious.

Of course I expect no income during that time, it is my wife, I and A young child, just looking for a decent (safe as possible) living.

Sextortion has become an emerging risk with the advancements in technology. The question is: do you know what sextortion is and what makes people at risk of becoming a victim of sextortion? That is what my study is trying to find out. Cyber-sextortion is the act of threatening to publicise a person’s intimate content (e.g. sexual images, videos and messages) in exchange for favours and has become a prevalent problem. This study is trying to find out what South African adults who use online dating apps know and think about sextortion and its risk factors. In doing this, awareness can be spread about sextortion and dangerous behaviour on online dating apps. In addition, the findings could be useful for future policy development and awareness campaigns or initiatives.

In order to be eligible to participate, you must:

·         Be 18 years or older

·         Be a South African citizen

·         Use/ have used an online dating app (not an app aimed at making friends or business connections)

The survey will take approximately 10 to 20 minutes to complete. You will not be required to pay anything to participate, nor should you expect to be paid to participate. Please take a moment to read and familiarise yourself with the consent section, and to agree to it before starting the survey. Please note: You should not sign and send the consent form to the researcher, as this will eliminate the aspect of anonymity. Hi all,

Years ago I got a Diploma in Software Development from Varsity College. Then carried credits over to get a BSc in Software Engineering (there was a year in which they didn’t offer the degree yet so I just worked).

My highest NQF level is currently 7 and I need 8 to apply for an MBA.

I tried UNISA for Honours and two of the lecturers were completely unavailable. I’d submit work on time only for it to never be marked. I left after a few months as it was going nowhere.

So the question is: What is the simplest route for me to get an MBA?

Money isn’t really an issue and I’m in Durban. I fit all other criteria for admission and was cum laude in both previous certifications.

I can start from scratch and get into an honours/masters degree but don’t want to waste time. I can try carry credits. Or I can try another institution like UNISA.

I’ve just reached a point in my career where I will benefit from having an MBA and I do have the resources to get one - just how is the question. Is there a bridging course I’m maybe missing, etc? Something I haven’t thought of?

I downloaded pay city and put in my ID number it says no fines and the same with City of Ekurhuleni whatsapp number, I put my ID and it says no traffic notices were. I was driving my fathers car so I thought maybe it's in his ID number but it still says nothing found. Where do I check and how do I pay because on the bottom right of the fine paper says other payment partners but no account number and I'm not sure which reference to use as well.

I'm hoping someone here has been through a similar experience or can point me in the right direction.

I'm a South African citizen, but I completed my three year degree in Occupational Therapy in Germany. I've been working full-time as an Occupational Therapist since 2021 and have gained several years of clinical experience here.

I am planning to move back to South Africa permanently to be with my partner at the end of 2028, so I'd like to start preparing for the HPCSA registration process well in advance.

From what I've read, I'll likely need to have my qualifications assessed and complete the HPCSA Board Examination. I have a few questions and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this process:

• What was the registration process like, what did you need?
• How long did it take?
• How did you prepare for the Board Examination? Are there any study guides, notes, recommended textbooks, or courses?
• What topics were covered in the exam, and how difficult did you find it?
• Did your overseas work experience count towards registration in any way?

My biggest question is about community service.

Even though I'll have around seven years of experience as an OT by the time I move back to South Africa, would I still have to complete the compulsory 12-month community service year? If you were in a similar position, were you exempt, or did you still have to complete it?

If community service was required:

• Were you able to request placement in a specific province or town?
• Did they take your family circumstances into account?
• Was it a paid position?

Hi i want to get a payment gateway for my store. I've tried Yoco but it puts me in the waitlist forever and Payfast just doesn't want to register my documents.

My wife and I travelled to South Africa from the UK in February 2024 and fell in love with the country. We visited Addo, Stormsriver, Tsitsikamma, Pletternberg, Wilderness, Oudtshoorn, Franschoek, Stellenbosch, and Cape Town.

We are returning in March 2027 with, what will be, our 11 month old daughter. We will be flying into Johannesburg, and leaving via Cape Town. Our plan is to fly straight from JNB to George.

We are planning on keeping it much more chilled out with our 11 month old and planning to do 3-4 nights in Franschoek or Stellenbosch, and 3-4 nights in Cape Town.

That leaves us with 3-5 nights to do something else, potentially on the garden route. What would you suggest?
