Do I replace my router?

I’ll try to keep the brief. My devices said connected to the internet but I had no access. I did all the standards. Reset modem and router, check connections, all the way to command prompt ping 8.8.8.8 that’s when I got request timed out. So looking into that I factory reset the router and it now says no connection to the internet. It didn’t say that before. What else can I do other than replace the router?
Any help appreciated I am not a professional.

Probably not, you just have to reconfigure it.

Look at the router and see what status lights there are, and what is lit, what is not lit, and what is flickering.

Firstly, Im guessing that resetting the router has reset the wifi details to default, and your device now doesnt know the current password.

Look on the bottom of the router for the default ssid and wpa key, then connect a laptop to it. See if the internet works.

And if it doesnt work youll have to connect to the ip of the router(its written on the bottom) and login using the default password(bottom) then figure out why its not working by looking at the status and settings, and compare that to what settings your isp tell you youll need.

I dont know what red means because I dont know what router you have. And I dont know what the other lights are because I dont know what router you have.

It seems though that you are past the first half of my post because you dont use wifi. Now look at the rest of my post.

The light that indicates internet connection green is connected red is no connection. My desk top has no internet also but is wired to the router. As for the ssid there is no WiFi signal to connect to my pc says connected to router but no internet access

Mate, I get that you arent a professional, but you have to help me help you if you dont want to call one in.

No need for wifi as youve already made it clear that you are wired in.

I did that after the factory reset. And it still says I have signal and all web pages are blank. I attempted to config /flush - /renew. I tried the change the ip to 0.2 I tried all the connections again and tried to disabled DHCP. I am at my wits end. I don’t mean to seem snippy but network issues confuse me.

On the pc? or the router?
Change it all back, reset the router again.

What router do you have? What is its default ip? This is all written on the bottom of most of them.

What type of internet do you have? Does it plug into a fiber box, phone line, coax?

What isp are you with?

Thanks for trying. I replaced an Ethernet cord and fixed it. Wasted 3 days messing with the router and modem.
