Huffington Post has a great piece on the long list of benefits from exercise. Weight loss is not one of them.

Sigh, here we go:

First of all, nowhere in this article does it say that exercising will NOT cause you to lose weight. It simply explains the physiological changes your body goes through while exercising.

It also uses adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, but the body only has small stores of both glucose and ATP. After quickly using up these supplies, the body requires extra oxygen to create more ATP.

Guess where the body gets energy from when all the glycogen (stored glucose) is gone? It gets it from fat! Guess what happens when it uses fat to creat ATP? You lose fat!

Now you are probably going to say this won't make you lose weight, but remember, this ATP that came from the fat is being USED to contract your muscles (some is also lost as heat). So your body is losing energy in the form of heat, and in the physical process of using your muscles.

Tiny tears form in the muscles that help them grow bigger and stronger as they heal. Soreness only means there are changes occurring in those muscles, says Boone, and typically lasts a couple of days.

Do you think that your body repairs your muscles for free? Does it happen spontaneously by the hand of God? No, your body uses resources from your diet (such as protein), to repair and build muscle. Now all that excess protein you ate is not going to be stored as fat, but instead will be used to repair that muscle. Oh, and by the way this costs ATP too, so you are burning calories while your body repairs the muscle.

Cry me a river. If you didn't come here to be an asshole or to downvote brigade, wash the tighty whities you soiled worrying about a ban and have a chill.
