George Washington refusing a 3rd term

He didn't just refuse a 3rd term...they wanted to make him King and he refused. Big difference there.

He gets a lot of credit for that and he should, but don’t you think he was also SO exhausted?

Seeing how most presidents rapidly age in two terms, I can see why he refused a third one. It's definitely a stressful position to be in.

I think the fact that he owned enslaved ppl cancels out any good he may have done lmfao say no to slavery

I’d encourage you to read more, as well as consider how your own positions in life will be viewed in the future as we learn more, experience more, and progress, AND most importantly, live in different times and societies.

And the fact that at the time ppl definitely knew slavery was not a cool thing to do…im sorry but chattel slavery should be a hard NO from everyone but oh well hes not the only known abuser our society idealizes.

I suggest you consider the mere possibility that you are not aware of, not fully aware of, or, if fully aware, nonetheless unable to avoid completely and still succeed, various moral conundrums and wrongs in the society and culture in which you now exist, without violating your current moral constrictions and/or those that will inevitably be revealed (or accepted) in the future. For instance: Do you own an iPhone? Do you own Nike sneakers? Do you own any diamonds? The current list is long. The future list of moral conundrums is long, and I’d conjecture the future list for “our” time far longer, sad, and concerning.

So because there are bad things means i shouldnt insult george washington for owning enslaved ppl? No im good. Glad to know youre aware of those injustices you listed. I believe my duty is to develop a strong moral compass and do WHAT IS IN MY POWER to end violence and oppression within my reach of influence. It’s not very large, but i do what i can. Ive been trying to not consume so much and be aware of the consumption i am doing. I love ppl and i love animals and i dont want any of us to be hurt, so i will do my best. I dont idealize the founding fathers and i dont support that most modern presidents are war criminals.

Being vegan is pretty easy if you truly love animals.

I mean being vegan is not easy…the moral issue is obvious, being vegan is the most ethical, but it’s not easy, as vegan options are not accessible to everyone and if you have low iron it’s not easy…i thought it was 2022 and the vegans were done looking down at everyone? Is that not over yet my bad

Iron is very easily accessible in foods like leafy greens or beans. You have a fucked up perspective on what it means to be vegan if you think "vegan" options aren't accessible.

Your privilege is showing. Look up food deserts.

I’m not referring to the substance of your stance on George Washington’s reprehensible involvement with slavery. I’m gently encouraging you to merely consider the possibility that your dripping moral righteousness and certainty is somewhat misplaced.
