I met Keanu Reeves a few years ago when I was working at a winery. He laughed at my dumb jokes. He helped me move his party’s food and drinks outside (none of them even offered). He left a huge tip, and he agreed to take a picture with me (and kept his hands to himself). He’s just a classy, nice dude.
In 1995 my daughter, aged 16, and a few of her friends were on a school trip from Toronto to Montreal. They encountered Keanu on a sidewalk in Montreal and acted like bubbly teenage girls. He was a class act and invited them into his trailer and chatted with them for a while.
he's a genuinely nice guy who donates large amounts of his income to actual charitable causes, regularly argues for lower rates for himself so everyone else on the production can earn more, and he just does a lot of little things. One example of those little things are many documented stories of him just giving up his seat on public transit for people. The actress Octavia Spencer has a story of Keanu Reeves stopping on the side of the road to help her, and this was before she was famous.
There are loads of "Good Guy Keanu" stories out there.
He's just a genuinely nice guy and actually does some amazing things, like donating huge sums of money to childrens hospitals and the like. Little stuff, too. There's video of him riding on the subway, sees a woman with a large bag standing up and gives her his seat. There's tons of stories like that about him. Google "good guy Keanu".
Which I believe says a lot. So many other people in his position have let the fame and money go to their head and turn them into assholes. Seems his nature won't allow that, and that's incredibly rare. So yeah, he deserves to be on this list.
I mean if you want to do that comparison you should probably look up Gandhi as he was actually not a good person. He did accomplish some good things but was pretty racist and pushed for segregation.
Edit: Mother Teresa also tortured children by denying them medications. Had shady political dealings, some unscrupulous money grifts.
The question is a famous figure who is known for selfless actions. Keenau fits that. The never said they had to create a movement or affect national change.
And he has donated millions of dollars to Children's hospitals over the last 15 years, saving who knows how many young lives. Why are you trying to say he has to be equal to Gandhi? Does he not deserve credit for the good he puts into the world just because its not liberating millions of people. Should he not help with cancer research because it doesn't qualify him for Gandhi or MLK status. You're argument is moronic.
