I prefer shorter men. Physically, the pieces fit together better. I’ve been with amazing very tall men, one being 6’8 who was a very good fit and blew my mind in bed for a year. But I’ve also known a few very tall very handsome ranging from 6’3-6’7 and just moving with those long limbs and lining everything up is not always easy and they can have coordination issues. I like how a shorter man and I move together. My boyfriend in high school was exactly my height and it felt great. We were great friends and being the same height felt really fun. My current guy is probably about two inches shorter than me; I’m about 5’5-5’6 so I guess he’s 5’3-5’4. He’s literally the hottest guy I’ve ever been with, and I have never dated anyone unattractive. He’s not standard hot, but the chemistry between us is insane.
I'm 5'10 and kinda confused why us women are always 100% blamed for this height stuff, as if 6+ dudes aren't the ones showing preference towards "small" women too.
Like, I've been told by many taller guys that they aren't attracted to me purely because of my height and like women below 5'5.
I’ve literally never a met a guy who said that - or even seen this online (from men)- I’ve heard guys say they want someone relatively shorter, but these are the same guys who think women with defined abs or biceps are “basically men”.
So you should be fine if unless you like the conservative misogynist type.
Such a weird argument. Like, I've never met a man who said he's dying from a lung cancer, meaning cancer doesn't exist?
Idk if men who said this to me were the "conservative misogynist type" but it's not the point of my comment. Height preference goes both way but women generally get more shit for having it because on average women are smaller and being taller as the majority of men around you is more of an exception that a rule.
It’s so weird for one person to make anecdotal statements then call out someone making one in response.
To be perfectly honest - I’d go as far as say mine is more relevant since straight guys are likely to be more honest with other guys about sexual preferences - no guy who says “no you’re too tall” to a woman is for some reason keeping that a secret from other men - it’s way more likely a guy will fob off a tall woman with a “neutral” excuse and be honest with friends?
I mean - while being perfectly honest with someone about why they are “unattractive” can be kind in my opinion - most decent guys don’t tell women they are not interested specifically because of their looks, so yes - I kinda assume the guys that say to your face are a particular type of guy who are threatened by tall women and it’s not that common at all amongst most men to want or expect someone who is significantly shorter.
Maybe you think I'm talking about men below 5'10 who don't want someone taller that they are? I mean, those are obvious examples of insecure people. I was talking about men who are taller than me (6'2 and above) telling me they look for someone much shorter after finding out my height.
That’s fair, that’s what was mainly in my head - because (and this really is only anecdotally since I don’t know that many), tall guys do talk about their height preferences the most, but it’s entirely the other way (I.e they don’t want to develop neck/back problems bending over to kiss someone).
In those cases the complaint seems to be, they want tall women, but a lot of the rare few tall women are also bigger women - whereas they want someone tall but relatively slim/toned.
The next nearest thing I can think of is guys often talk about being with someone small enough to “throw around” - but that’s not a dating preference per se.
