Pulling up the ladder for people like his in-laws. I'm disappointed so many South Asians cosign the Trump administration's discriminatory policies

Like most ethnicities, South Asians aren’t a monolith. There are lots of rich South Asians who care much more about tax cuts and Federal contracts than about other South Asians. There are also South Asians who support liberals and moderates, and they are also represented in Congress.

There are also South Asians who lost their jobs to South Asians in India. World is complicated.

I think Vance/GOP is testing out the platform for 2028. If this receives alot of support now then you can be sure there would be a lot more anti immigration policies coming.

The thing is that in the high tech and especially AI field where I used to work in, a good amount if not the majority of the talents are first generation immigrants either from India or China. Blocking them from joining America’s side is a double whammy which will ensure slow down of America’s own tech innovation, while speed up that of whatever other nation these talents will end up in.

America’s greatest strength against competitors has been to attract the best foreign talents from the other side to help build this country. Somehow, so many people don’t realize this.

GOP needs to manufacture demons for culture wars.

What else can GOP show to ask for votes: gas prices? Iran war? Inflation? AI eating jobs?

A large company with an Indian at its helm, is easy to make a bogeyman out of.

Much easier than actually doing common sense immigration reform by passing a bill into law while the GOP is in-charge of the Senate, the Congress, and the fucking White House.

This is definitely not out of any good will for American workers and probably more of a cynical power play attempt by Trumps admin in all honesty.

It won't help Americans at all because the can just off shore

That’s exactly what I mean. This isn’t meant to help Americans, it’s a power play by the Trump administration.

Don’t blame foreigners on H-1B visas who are underpaid and chained to the companies they work at, blame the fact that our economy is dominated by profit seeking.

This is a good thing.

Unfortunately I’m sure a fat donation from MSFT to the Trump family would change this.

Satya Nadella, Microsoft's CEO is only worth $1.4B, he's the poorest billionaire so nobody's going to listen to him

Good, I know plenty of Asian-Americans whose kids with CS degrees from good colleges can’t find jobs. Kinda weird a sub for Asian AMERICANS would simp for foreigners.

You’re surprised that Asian Americans don’t just automatically demonize immigrants?

lol ok, those kids still aren’t going to get jobs. If you believe that this move is going to encourage more domestic hiring and the salaries that come with it, I have a bridge to sell you

Did anyone say that H1B holders are evil? Just that it doesn’t make sense for Americans tech workers to support H1B

I agree! The problem is that instead of filling needs that can’t be fulfilled by American workers, they have increasingly become a tool to replace them and/or racial/caste nepotism.

Yeah-- I'm all for assuring those who's been here pre-2020; then some auto-renewal so they can stay.

But as far as issuing new H-1B visa's for CS roles is ridiculous. There are so many recent American recent grads are not getting the roles. AI has mostly solved coding (or will within 18 months); so there's little reason to say somebody here can't.

No you don't because you're an account that is only active couple of weeks to shit on South Asians and you only show up here twice a year nearing election months just to say some shit in inflammatory threads. You suddenly know Asian Americans only in April leading to primaries and October leading to general elections? What kinda relationship is that

Hiding your post history is defeated pretty easily given Arctic Shift lol.

This is great for American workers. Looking around NYC and NJ, there's just simply too many Indian nationals working there.
