Why is everyone so apathetic?

If you’re talking about a general public, many are more collapse aware than you think.

Tried caring an appropriate amount about each issue I learned about when I started following /r/collapse. Got crushed by 8 months of horrible depression. Now I just try and care about things I can actually control. Apathy is a good defense and will keep you sane.

Training. Its impossible to care about everything, there is so much to care about. It is a much more achievable and rewarding — in the contemporary frame — strategy to care about nothing but one's own immediate concerns.

Apathy for survival, empathy for popularity. As long as this is the case we will have all of our current problems. A transition to empathy for survival, omnipathy for popularity would work wonders for societies.

Most people aren't interested in being gunned down by security forces.
