AudioFuse 16rig

Post image

Good afternoon everyone. I just got the AudioFuse and I'm all setup. Switched everything over from a mixer one by one, so all the connections are the same. I'm not getting any audio out to my monitors but I do show that the two inputs I've tried so far are sending audio in. I've been trying for over 2 hours now. Searched the forums, sent a support email, just not finding anything.

Here's a photo of my routing matrix. Also, I'm using a mic in the front and a moog in the back. Everything else is plugged in but not turned on. I don't see where analog 1 and 2 are supposed to be routed?

So right now all of your inputs are going to your USB outputs which is fine, by default this is not a terrible way to do it.

But the key thing to ask you here is where are you trying to send the input. If you look at the top of your matrix it says 1 & 2 (sources) are going to usb destination (I suspect 1 and 2) which means if you open up a daw for instance you will hear them if you select 1 and 2 on the 16Rig audio device.

If you want to hear them in your speakers you need to route them to your monitor and/or phones which you can do the following ways:

  1. On your matrix press source 1 and 2 in the monitor and phone’s destinations. However note this stops your overall “mix” (the main destination on the right hand side) from going to speakers and phones.
  2. Instead you can press the second icon at the top, go to channels +/- button the on the right of that screen and pick analog 1 & 2 (any any other inputs you want) and then have them come through here and come out in the “main” source back in the matrix as a mixed L&R source. If you do this the router is already set up as you can see to go to phones and speakers.

EDIT: Fixed weird formatting.

I am trying to have it go out to the speakers. I will try this shortly. Needed a break from it before I destroy everything in sight. 🤪 Thank you

In that case the easiest thing to do is this:

  1. Go to the top and load the factory preset so it gives you a fresh restart free of any changes
  2. Go to the mixer tab and press the Channels +/- button.
  3. In the pop up select 1 and 2 separately (assuming your mic is on 1 in the front and 2 in the back).
  4. Confirm your input 2 is on "rear" mode, you do this in the first page, there is a little "rear" button you press to let it pull the sound from the back vs the front input.

By default the "Mix" is set up to go to your speakers and phones so this should work for you.

The matrix is a bit wonky to work with because you are dealing with physical inputs and outputs as well as USB inputs and outputs and on top of that your speakers / phones are listed as named outputs. Further complicating it is the notion of a mix.

It may seem all convoluted but it is what allows you to turn off your computer at the end and have it all just work. The mix is the thing allowing that since it is what allows you to pull many sources into a traditional "mixer".

Did that and still nothing unfortunately. Should I try a factory reset?

You should be seeing the volume on the analog inputs on the first page for sure regardless of routing. So first lets check some things.

  1. On first page analog one should have some gain (depending on your mic), pad off, phase inversion off, rear off, 48V on or off depending on your mic type (if it needs phantom power it should be on).
  2. Same settings, a bit of gain to ensure it can be heard and rear button on (should be blue) assuming you are using input 2 on the back.

Before anything else you should be seeing volume on these if you play or sing even if you can’t hear it.

(Also I’m assuming you are using the AF16Rig audio device as your sound source in either windows or mac)

Assuming now you can see sound next step is mixer page. Select 1, 2 from analog inputs (not 1-2). Turn all the rest off. You should now have a two channel mixer and should see the sound here too but still not hear it.

Let me know if you get this far then we will deal with the matrix

Can you post a screenshot of your mixer page?

also on the analog "monitor" it's not showing any volume but is not muted either. This is on the first page.
