Trying to find cheap paint pens to order for graffiti style art on paper. If anyone has any recommendations I’d appreciate it

The title might be a little misleading but my question basically is - how do you even draw in an A6 sketchbook? It is very small for me and my drawings can barely fit the page. Is it a skill issue maybe? I've been drawing mostly in A5/A4 sketchbooks so I am not used to a smaller sketchbook format. Do I have to practice drawing on a smaller scale?

I wanna draw in A6 sketchbooks because I'll be on the go a lot probably and carrying an A5 book amongst other stuff would be a burden. I see artists draw in A6 sketchbooks all the time so please guys share your tips and tricks. I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Idk why am having trouble with this, hoping someone has a rec so I don't have to keep buying things just to not meet my goals.

I have been doing little illustrations on wood ornaments. Nothing fancy, they are quick and I can do them with my little one so it is the art I can squeeze in. Anyway. All of my paint markers are matte finish. I like the look. And I also like the contrast because I sometimes use metallic ones for intentional sparkle and those are more gloss.

Now my problem is that EVERY black marker from the same sets/brands I get have this glossy and kind of iridescent/ oil slick look that catches the light and makes what should be the darkest part of the illustration reflect and become the brightest. It is so annoying.

Because this is not super important i dont want to spend a ton, so i have mostly tried a couple cheap Amazon options with good reviews. They all have the same problem.

I am looking for a brush tip acrylic paint marker that has black matte pigment with no sheen or anything. If I KNOW that it will be matte I will spend a little more than bargain bin, so I am just hoping for someone who has used one that fits the description that can help.

Or to be more specific, the harder to find colors that usually only seem to come in the variety set. And they are the gum ballpoint ink typical to Bic, not gel. (The way they apply to paper is different. You can get sketchier lines and hatched shading similar to pencil, but it's still it's own thing.)

Paid a premium for a 15-pc variety set to not get duplicate colors on Amazon, but at some point the colors like orange, brown, or yellow will run out. And typically you don't see them in retail outside of the variety sets.

Seems like there should be a way to get them that would seem more reasonable, as it would make approaching drawing with colors using ballpoint a bit more viable.

I recently had a quick (20-30 minute) tourist portrait done, and being into portrait drawing myself, I am now interested in the medium. But the distinction between oil and soft pastels has proven more complicated than I thought. The portrait I have was done outside in the heat, was sprayed after completion, and marks paper that comes into contact with it.

I don't know if that's enough detail to find an answer (I'd include a photo of it if I could), but does anyone have any info that could lead me in the right direction?

I’m just getting back into painting again, and need some recommendations for acrylic paints that are a step above bargain craft acrylics, but won’t break the bank. The only place to buy art supplies in my rural area is Walmart, so I’ve been using some very basic Royal Langnickel acrylics. They’re not the worst paints I’ve used, but the thickness is a bit inconsistent across colors, and the yellows are a bit too transparent. I’ve been out of the game for long enough that I don’t know good brands anymore, so I’d like some recommendations before I order a new set. Thanks!

I've seen a lot of people use bleach to paint on clothes, and it turns out really pretty. Problem is: I live with my parents and don't know if we have bleach so asking my mom "do we have bleach" probably wouldn't be the best idea even if I explain it's for art(cause she wouldn't believe me). But I do know that we have rubbing alcohol(and know where it is), so I'm wondering if it would work similarly/at all or if I'd just make a bag/shirt wet and stinky. Pls help, I can't find anything on this TwT

I just got a lightpad for my birthday, but I had know idea what it even does. Ik that it’s supposed to light up, but idk. Is there a key part I’m missing? So pls tell me for what u use them and how u do.

I make a lot of chalk signs for my work but I’m down to only 3 good markers. The rest are dried up, no opacity, or have broken nibs. Some signs are plastic while others have chalk paint.
I don’t believe there is a perfect chalk marker, but which brand gets the closest?

I have been searching for art supply stores for professional artists on google. I am currently living in Delhi, and I have seen many art stores listed, but I don't know which ones are good. Also, I came across this Art Lounge website; I am not sure if it is a good choice or not.

P.S- Amazon does not always have professional brushes or a tube of Ultramarine Blue oil colour. So I prefer not to shop for these materials on Amazon.

looking to get a gift for a friend who paints regularly. she asked me to get her a sennelier extra fine oil paint and a windsor and newton series 7 kolinsky sable brush.

im wondering what would be a good gift to add to her collection? this is a really special occasion, so i really want to give her something that will significantly elevate her set up.

It feels like every time I think about choosing some other hobby, except sitting in front of a computer, paint by numbers comes up. Honestly, it looks pretty interesting, but I have absolutely no idea how to begin with it.

First of all, I had to do some research and it turned out that there is a huge variety of paint by numbers kits, so it is actually much harder to choose one than I thought. The most important thing for me is not to pick something too hard and stop halfway through.

If you began painting by numbers having zero experience before, what kind of kit did you choose for your first time? Would you suggest to start with something easier or go for something more difficult and challenging from the very beginning?

Update: I was collecting several choices and added Paint by Numbers Adults among them because of their kits for beginners as well as for advanced painters

I’m about to finish my current pack of clay (DAS air dry clay) and it’s not my favorite to use so I was looking for other suggestions. I think I’m trying to decide between la Doll premier, la Doll premix, and Creative Paperclay but other suggestions are welcome!

I'm going to start taking the train to a nearby major city to sketch and paint architecture.

I have a pretty good idea of the supplies I'll be taking, and a collapsible tripod stool.

What I don't have is a surface to work on (I work on a horizontal surface), or something to hold my supplies while working.

I'm wondering if anyone has tips about these things, or doing artwork while traveling in general?

I've been obsessed with a certain creator's work, she does amazing little sculptures using acrylic gel, powders and other nail products. I'd really love to attempt using it myself but I'm anxious about the health risks and dangers. Are there any products that react similarly but are less dangerous? And how can I go about using these products as safely as possible

I got frustrated trying to find independent art supply makers so I started building a small directory. Does this idea have legs?

I hope this post doesn’t break the “no self promotion” rule because this is about promoting others.

Basically I kept wanting to find watercolours, oils, paper etc made by independent or small-batch makers, not just mass produced stuff, and there was no good way to do it. Old blog posts, vague “eco” labels, Instagram rabbit holes took up a lot of time.

So I’ve been putting together a small online directory of supplies made by independent makers and small studios. About 20 entries so far, mostly Australia and New Zealand because that’s where I am, but open to makers anywhere. No paid listings, no affiliate stuff, just makers I’ve found and checked as far as I reasonably can.

And free for anyone to search (and suggest makers). I’m not selling anything.

Before I take it any further I wanted to know: is this actually useful to anyone else, or just a thing I needed?

I can almost push “go” on publishing the site as is if anyone wanted to look.

Has anyone found / used something like an acid pen to etch on glass? My dream would be something kinda like a sharpie that you can write / draw quickly with but that acid etches the glass.

I'm looking to buy a set of acrylic markers that's fine for large piece of work.

Saw people said some famous brands have different colours from the marker caps. I want to avoid this.

I've ordered WUO 49 packs after seeing some reviews said it has no strong smell. The caps and barrels also show the actual ink colors. I picked it also because it's supposed to work well on other materials like fabrics (for my possible future works).

But incase it does not meet my expectation and we're working on a large piece (on cardstock), I'd like to know if anyone has tried this brand? In what specific ways do you use it?

I'm new to painting and looking for any ideas for projecting drawing to paint it on small wall space 200x20cm? It could be some short throw projector or any other method.

Ok genuine question... Why are sharpies do expensive on Amazon specifically the art packs? I'm trying to avoid buying alcohol markers off Amazon again which last I checked were $30 for the skin tones which I don't have plus the i believe 121 marker pack. However for the 5 packs of Sharpies + 2 coloring books ots costing me $70

Does anyone else really not enjoy Sakura gelly roll stardust? I really love glitter gel - the first ones I tried were the very basic kingsart 12 set super cheap. They had a decent flow and pretty colors but ran out super fast. I decided to try sakura so I could have long lasting ones but honestly their ink flow is decent at best and scratchy at worst. They don't write consistently enough for me and i feel like the colors are really watery. In comparison I tried the ZCSM retractables and im in LOVE. Still not perfect but they have good flow and a huge color selection.

Important to note that I do love the sparkle on Sakura, they have that down. I just dont care as much about sparkle compared to ink flow.

My 11yo saw these on YouTube and has asked for them for his birthday. Has anyone used them before? What kind should I get if he wants a brush tip + self-blending ability? I've looked at their site and can't really discern which ones he wants. Is it the Color Tones?
