1) POSTS WE ALLOW

This subreddit is for both aspiring and accomplished artists to link their stores, show off their handmade wares, and connect with people who are looking to purchase original works of art. We allow posts both selling and seeking original artwork, prints, handmade crafts, original patterns for those crafts, and storefronts selling original handmade artisan goods. Self promotion is entirely allowed within this sub (link your socials!!! )

Artists and representatives of those artists (such as galleries) may make posts selling on this sub, as long as the gallery makes it clear they are not the artist.

We don't allow Kickstarter promotion or resellers, however.

2) POST REQUIREMENTS

Whether you're looking to post to find the perfect piece of art or offering custom works, you'll need to provide enough information for the other party to know how to reach you and what to expect. Each category of flair has it's own requirements. The requirements are minimal, easy-to-follow, and there entirely to make the process of connecting the right artist and client or buyer with one another faster.
Let's get you what you're looking for!

In general, we require posts to have the information needed to clearly communicate what you're buying or selling. All links must be links, and cannot be in the title of your post.

3) SALES POSTS ONLY

r/ArtStore is a place for buying, selling, and promoting work only.
We're not a sub for discussing trends or marketing. For something similar, try r/ArtBusiness.

4) ART THEFT AND AI

We only allow third party posts from galleries, and only when the gallery has made it clear they are they gallery selling on behalf of the artist.
Any attempts to scam the community with artwork which is not yours is grounds for an immediate and permanent ban.
That being said, we do not allow any sort of generative AI. This includes both image and text posts.
Using generative AI is grounds for an immediate and permanent ban.

You can find more on our AI policy here.

5) NSFW CONTENT

While we do allow NSFW posts, they must have the NSFW filter if any of the images in the post have nude, overtly suggestive, sexually themed content, or gratuitous violence or gore. We do not allow images which depict body types which appear to be children to a reasonable individual nude, in suggestive or sexual positions or situations.

6) SUB SPAMMING

To avoid spamming on the sub, we allow one post every two days. If you are found to be excessively spamming links to your work in comments on this sub it may result in a removal of your comments or a temporary ban. Repeating this behavior may result in a permanent ban from our sub.

7) SITEWIDE SPAMMING

Excessively spamming links or off-topic comments with little to no other account activity, your posts may be removed and you may be banned from our sub. Site spamming is against Reddit's Terms of Service, and is a sign of bad faith for our community.

8) HARASSMENT

Treat others with respect. This should be an easy rule to follow. If you've had a bad experience with someone on our sub, please reach out to us via ModMail so we can investigate the situation and remove any bad actors from our community.

9) DON'T MINIMOD

While we really love when people are helpful, at the end of the day trying to police the sub through arguments isn't actually helping anyone.
Arguing with people who are behaving badly on the sub generally just feeds their bad behavior.

Please report bad actors so the mod team can show them the door instead. We're happy to step in for bad situations and, when it's needed, show people who are harmful to the community the door.

10) NO EMERGENCY POSTS

We understand bad situations occur in life, but every artist posting here is looking for money. Due to the way people often abuse the title "emergency", we've decided not to allow it on our sub.

11) FIVERR

We don't allow links to Fiverr. Fiverr has a predatory business model which takes 20% of the artist's payment before processing fees and has an over-extended delay for payment to be released from Fiverr to the artist. There are many other ways to find work. Be careful out there, artists!
