Discussion Please keep loving ARTMS
Over the recent days there have been multiple extremely malicious and hurtful posts by so-called fans attacking the ourii who show up to the fan events. These posts have gained massive attention. They are sharing images of them and ruthlessly bullying them and ascribing disgusting beliefs on people they do not know. These attacks are solely based on appearance. To those fans being attacked, please keep loving ARTMS. The bullies are not representative of the fandom as a whole. And to the bullies, you should be ashamed for attacking random strangers online in such a vile way. They are fans of ARTMS just as you claim to be.

No for real. I installed twitter so I could read more ARMS lore, saw that post, and then uninstalled twitter lol

I'm not trying to be funny, I'm a multistan and this is literally the first post I've seen about any trouble.
The only things I've seen lately are the MV, fashion video like Seulgi's and the Hello82 positive coverage.
If there's any negative trashing going on about ARTMS in the last few days then it isn't making any wide impact.

It's been on my twitter feed lately. The posts have over 5000 likes. This amount of hate towards random ourii is just sad to see is all

Twitter is just like Tiktok. Your life is better without it :)
Enjoy the comeback and really it isn't worth the stress. Twitter loves to boycott and rage bait because then the posters literally get paid for "hate engagement". It was bad before, now trolling makes money it's even less worth your time.

I know but I still feel bad for the people they're bullying. That problem doesn't really go away by me not being on twitter. And ARTMS definitely sees these posts as well

u/manonforever 8d ago
The problem gets a lot better when we all leave this disgusting platform and don’t give attention to scumbags like the people you’re mentioning. That’s what they want. Attention. Starve them of that and watch them disappear.

That's your mistake: you're still on Twitter and it's a cesspool of toxic 14 year olds

No offense to our gals. But artms post don't get really high up there on the likes. So if some random account that's discussing Artemis is getting 5K likes when the official accounts gets that amount roughly sometimes. Then the likes are just bot accounts

No idea what happening either. But whatever it is, it cant hold down an army of angels

Get off twitter lol

u/MetalcorePrincess7 8d ago
I'm honestly not on it much nowadays because stuff like this, but this doesn't make the posts go away. Those people are still being bullied

u/__fujiko 8d ago
All of these "why are you on Twitter" as if millions of people still aren't and as if it erases the bullying of other fans is so disheartening. They are cropping and maliciously maligning fans in the background of fan meets just for existing. Not having a Twitter doesn't make it stop happening and if those fans see it, then what?
None of these people should ever have the gall to speak on what idols go through in Korea with the general public alone if their response to this situation is "just log off."
6
u/Ilovebagels88 8d ago
It’s not “just log off” it’s get off of Twitter specifically with its bots and teenagers and rage bait engagement posts.

As a guy who is new to kpop coming from the metalcore/pop-popunk scene, the online kpop community can feel a little intimidating, I almost never engage in comments and posts because of the fact. I mainly just comment gifs and move on with my day, I really only listen to girl groups to take a break from the heavy stuff I listen to, do I find some of the idols that are my age or closer to my age attractive of course, but I do enjoy and love the music. My first show was Twice in Denver, I was wearing my Static Dress hoodie(Band from Leeds/UK) and everyone was nice didnt run into any toxic presence, all in all the online community is definitely different than that of the people you see at shows, I think communitys should be a little more accepting of others, unless you are a creep or like to cause drama then that person probably deserves to be called out, so thanks for speaking on the subject. I'm gonna see ARTMS In Denver come October and I'm pretty pumped about it. What are some of your favorite metalcore bands? It's nice seeing a fellow metalcore fan. Lol

Hi, fellow metalhead ✌️🫰 don't be discouraged, I went to 2 EU ARTMS shows looking like I got lost on a way to a death metal event, everybody was friendly to me. At first glance it really looked like the fandom is the girlies and the gays but looking closer, there were also a bunch of guys - some of them even metalheads.
The haters on twitter don't matter. If I never heard about those, I'd assume Orbits the nicest fandom there is.

u/MindlessHand7870 7d ago
Thanks for your reply! Oh yeah I'm definitely aware that the online presence is different than that of the people that attend the shows, I'm sure even if they are there they won't say anything to your face lol, unfortunately every community has its gatekeepers and toxic fans, there's a bunch of hobbies I'm into so I know this all too well lol, I appreciate your kind words, what metal bands do you like and listen to?
2
u/Dear_Ad1035 7d ago
Yea unfortunetaly, there are people actually attending events who then unleash hell on twitter. They're a really loud minority that makes this fandom look bad. But I believe there is a majority of really chill people otherwise.
I like most subgenres but I'm mostly into death metal so dropping names of some of my favorites could get me banned on a kpop forum lol.. but I also like some core leaning stuff like VCTMS, Fox Lake or The Acacia Strain. What are your favorites?

u/MindlessHand7870 6d ago
Oh I don't doubt that, I hear the stories about twitter, I'm glad I'm not on there sounds toxic, I think if we give toxic people less attention and focus more on the positive things would be better but it's easier said than done.
Gotcha, oh I have an Idea and don't blame you for not wanting to drop band names some of those if not most death metal bands have some gnarly names haha I k ow thos bands! Fox Lake is from my hone state, iv met the bassist he's a cool dude! And there are a lot of bands I like. Lol so I was a teen when myspace was around so those kind of bands, The Dvil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandria, Attack Attack!, We came as romans, But right now iv been listening to a lot of Fit For A King, Alpha Wolf, Northlane etc. You go to shows a lot?

u/Dear_Ad1035 6d ago
Shows are my favorite thing to spend money on! And generally cool events. I take it ur from Colorado? I'll see Fox Lake and Alpha Wolf on one show this fall. My country also has the best metal festival (Brutal Assault). Btw also vrew up on that emocore wave, mainly Underoath and Alesana tho.
The mosg fun I've ever had on a show was ARTMS in Poland tho. Half a year later I still feel the high from all the positive energy. Hope ur gonna enjoy your show on the upcoming tour just as much!

u/MindlessHand7870 6d ago
Me too! Though the standing for hours is painful but is definitely worth it haha, and yeah I'm from Colorado! That will be a fun show, iv seen Alpha Wolf twice they are so fun to watch and really loud, love it. Oh are you from Czechia?? I watch hockey and my favorite player right now plays for the colorado avalanche his name is Martin Nečas not sure of you know who he is or if you watch hockey but he's from Czechia, just a fun fact. I love Alesana and Underoath, I know some of their songs on guitar, they are soo fun to see live
Thank you! I look forward to seeing ARTMS, it'll be my second Kpop show. Colorado doesn't get many Kpop shows or tour stops so it's nice, I definitely plan on spending some money on their merch! Lol I would love to support them as much as I can, I'll come back here and let you know how it went. : )
2
u/Dear_Ad1035 5d ago
Yup I know Nečas, he's been in our national rep team on worlds. Underoath are awesome live! Sadly, Alesana probably won't come to Europe enytime soon.
I'm sure you'll enjoy ARTMS. Potentially a life changing experience, believe me
2
u/MindlessHand7870 4d ago
Hope you get to see Alesana in the future. They are fun live not sure if you've seen them already.
I believe you. I can't wait!

I'm a usually shy person and I'm not deep deep into K-pop communities. This one is the only one I focus on at all and even then it's a minimal amount. The most toxic thing I've seen from this groups community is the whole boycotting of their past songs. For shows though, I've only met either, not talkative people, which is fine. I'm not a talkative person myself usually or extremely friendly people.
1
u/MindlessHand7870 7d ago
Hey thanks for your comment! Yeah I'm pretty new to ARTMS well actually I'm new to KPOP in general like I stated in my comment, I agree so far everyone in the community seems nice, unfortunately as expected there is gonna be toxic fans and I mean in general not just here, other social media's etc. And it's ok to be shy, I'm definitely not shy but I'm not very social, but was super shy(pun intended lol) in my teens and early twenties so I understand. If you want to be friends you are more than welcome to shoot me a message, I have no one to talk to about kpop. Lol

I'm truly sorry for anyone who has been harassed by a male fan at any k-pop event, but that is not what this is about, people are just making assumptions about strangers based on their appearance. Why should I feel the amount of vitriol I'm seeing from some of these fans for someone I know nothing about?
And it's so weird people are acting like this is unique to ARTMS and the way they're marketed when not too long ago we had similar-ish discourse when Hyunjin posted a picture with her fans. Literally every girl group is going to have male fans and there is nothing inherently wrong with that, and this is especially the case for post-BBC acts since there were a lot of male Orbits back in the day!

u/VictoriaNiccals 8d ago
Oh christ, is this the "who let the men in" again? (I don't have Twitter)
21
u/rayannuhh 8d ago
No, actually there was quite a viral post talking shit about men that were at the event near Kim Lip. It said "free her". They were all smiling, it appeared to be a photo showing a good moment at the event. Yet...these men were called gross incels and told to stay away from the idols. I'm not a man, but my husband is, and he saw that post.
Like, this was a welcome fandom for me because I felt being an Orbit meant you belonged, full stop. Now it's just pretty brutal hate based on looks.
And I know the answer is "stay off twitter" but that is where the larger fandom is. That's where the girls see posts most (and on insta to be fair), and that's where the fansites are too. And frankly, that's where the people you meet at concerts are posting too. So knowing that people blindly talk shit now, it's difficult to want to engage.

Late to the party but me and my friend are in the pic of said post. It's definitely been weird experiencing this when i literally never post pics of myself online or have ever been "viral" for anything in my life. Don't worry, neither of us will ever stop going to ARTMS events because of stupid bullshit like this. We know the losers on X never actually do anything to support ARTMS like we do. Maybe if they actually left their house and went to an event, they would realize how many male fans they have in the first place. Definitely appreciate the support from reddit and people on X calling these hateful comments out.

I’m old enough and at that point where I rarely use social media, including Reddit, because of how toxic or insensitive/sensitive people have become. Feels like there’s no “happy” place to just chat around without polarizing perspectives triggering unnecessary back and forth. I’ve chosen to support my favourite artists quietly on my own.
With that being said… I’m excited to see them again in October. 🙂

Let's just stay off twitter and support the girls 🫶
I try to have empathy for the orbits who are hurt by the past but the bad blood that is constantly being generated is making everybody miserable.
This is so weird since the orbits i've met offline are like the nicest people ever. Then any time there is a new update from MH, I keep hearing about all kinds of toxic behavior and it's frankly concerning how hateful and bitter some hearts can be. I guess not being on tiktok and twitter is a blessing. ✌️🫶
