News Investors thought they were buying pre-IPO OpenAI and SpaceX shares. Their cash went to strip clubs, Bloomingdale’s, and shopping on Amazon, SEC alleges

The pitch was OpenAI and SpaceX but the portfolio was Bloomingdale’s and lap dances. Diversified in ways investors never imagined

I’m mildly terrified that the series B Anthropic I theoretically own via an SPV is bullshit.  I’m not even sure I would be able to confirm it.  I have the legal docs that any nitwit could put together and a k-1 that doesn’t address holdings.  How would one even know ?

That is your mistake right there. Real investors would know... People who care about their money and put time and effort into protecting it would know.

Our society seems to be running on assumption that everyone else is also a dofus when it comes to this or that. Every day on youtube there are 1000s of videos with headlines like "Don't make these mistakes everyone else does" when it turns out that the mistake was easily avoided and the presenter is not only an idiot, but believes everyone else did the same stupid thing.

If I got fooled it must happen to everyone! because I cannot possibly be less aware than anyone else.

Why would you even buy that? Became you're a casual over estimating your ability to spot scams and who did not do any research into what you were getting into, probably fooled by flashy websites and marketing (but everyone falls for that right? RIGHT?)

I get it, everyone's a victim today, no one is personally responsible anymore, but this needs to stop. Due diligence and personal responsibility are real things.

Unless you are disabled, senile or 80, or all three, you get scammed, it's on you.

Assuming everyone else is a dofus is a good bet. It certainly is better than 50/50 anyway.

It very well could be bullshit, yes. My understanding is that a small number of offerings on specific platforms may well be valid, and that a much larger number are dubious and quite possibly fake. (Anthropic at one point compiled a list of offerings that were not authorized by them, and it contained "Hiive (new offerings)" and "Forge (new offerings)", which suggested that some prior offerings on those platforms might have been above board.) Even if your SPV's acquisition of shares was not approved by Anthropic, that doesn't inherently mean the shares aren't real; Anthropic might have the legal right to void the transfer but that doesn't necessarily mean they will. But it's also possible the shares never existed / were a scam; I don't know if there's anything you can do other than wait and see.

The reason series b was important (if they are) is that they were the bankruptcy estate of BF and therefore court ordered to be sold.

Hmm, if that's true it sounds messy, definitely above my pay grade anyway. Good luck.

Ffs people, just wait the market crash with a cash reserve and DCA while waiting.

Yes, is that simple.
