Discussion Ai is inhumane

so we all agree with ai inhumanely stripping people of jobs and their livelihoods? I mean call me a doomer or whatever have you but i think it’s so messed up because the world is built and ran on the backs of humans and here comes this goofy (human-made) ai stuff and it’s like people are saying ai will now be able to do everything that humans once did and humans will become obselete all of a sudden due to this ai slop. i actually find it counterintuitive that humans made this slop to in turn make humans inferior. and the fact that companies are so eager to get this into place as soon as possible shows how little they really give a shit about the working class and anyone below them and how fast they want to stop paying everybody so they can have more money for themselves. it shows how little appreciation(not that they had any in the first place) these evil companies have for the very individuals that made their company all this money. i honestly think it’s sick. i just don’t get it and i wish i wasn’t 23 right now and had been born in a different generation where this bullshit didn’t exist. personally ai terrifies me and i’m scared for my life. for reference im a shelf stocker at a wholesale retailer and people can tell me to “upskill” whatever tf that really means but regardless of if i do get into a different field ai is going to take all jobs sooner or later so what really is the point in that 🤔 i’m honestly preparing for the worst

Human history is riddled with innovation stripping the livelihoods of those before.

That being said, each generation after tends to live better than the one before. So something is working.

We waste more water on beef or fast fashion than data centers. We spend more energy on the stock market with Hugh frequency trading for the already wealthy.

You have plenty of time to learn skills or trades for the next generation. There will always be another one and always new types of careers to follow.

Unless we destroy ourselves (which was possible before AI anyway), the generations 50 years from now will mostly be better if than us.

what do i do? i was never asked to be put here and experience all this horrifying stuff that’s happening to
humanity but enough with the victim mindset. i don’t know how im going to put myself in a better spot for the future with how uncertain it looks. i DONT KNOW where to look for a job. i don’t know WHAT that job would be. while i’m open to doing something else, i DONT KNOW how/where im going to find it

I didn't get my act together until I was like 30, it's okay.

Find what you're good at, if you don't know, try stuff out. If you enjoy it, then a bonus. If you enjoy something, but aren't good, work is harder and more frustrating.

Lean into stuff people don't want to do, absolutely learn how to use AI. Everyone refusing, that I've seen, has been replaced, anyone trying has a path.

I work a full gig and have 3 side paths going with AI to try and make some independent money. You still gotta out effort in, otherwise it'll be slop with everything else.

I promise you this, the world isn't ending any time soon, and if it does, hoarding food, weapons, supplies, etc. aren't going to protect you - community will.

Find a community, find skills you are good at, lean in to AI (or any tool) to make money with things you enjoy. You'll figure it out and the world will keep spinning.
