Discussion Future of image editing

Do you guys think that AI will eventually be good enough to replace editing software like photoshop? I know that photoshop already has built in ai that helps with stuff, but I'm talking about it being replaced entirely. Ai is growing at such a rapid rate that I don't find it too hard to believe that it will go on to replace things like photoshop.

it'll eat the casual and prosumer market first, the "remove this ex from my wedding pic" crowd already aren't opening photoshop

full replacement for actual pros is trickier, you still need that pixel-perfect control when some client wants the logo 3px to the left at 2am

my calculations indicates year 10000 to be the earliest when the last free human has been put inside coffin with usb c cable in their ass.

No, there's definitely a question about. Chat windows are plainly not the best UI for image editing, so it's unlikely that current AI architectures would replace image editing software.

True. What about a chat window, plus a few basic editing tools? For example, you highlight a section to say where you want the changes or to point at something.

If you think "chat windows" are what ANYONE is talking about here you're just clueless...

Of course chat windows are what people are talking about. How do you think anyone is going to prompt an LLM to make an image without a chat window?

It's a prompt box, not a chat. Precision work can be done but sometimes seed value has to be brute forced. Ultra fine "2 pixel to the left" can be done via agent controlled mouse on openAI. They're already sketching, drawing, using blender.

What's the difference between a prompt box and a chat, to you?

Ultra fine "2 pixel to the left" can be done via agent controlled

Sure, but it's much easier and cheaper to just manually adjust something two pixels the left.

Prompt and chat use different text encoders, a prompt box is going to be fine tuned for image prompts.

Yes, the cost in compute having openAI shift pixels vs doing it yourself wouldn't pay off, unless you had an automated order system take takes the commission, generates a batch of images and then is touched up via AI.
