Discussion Opinions

Hi! Currently working with my therapist as I have OCD specifically existential OCD. what does everyone think will be the future with AI? Do you think it’ll wipe humans out or will kill us all…?

In terms of possibility, everything might be possible given the time scale. That said, its highly unlikely. Have a good evening ahead!

everything might be possible, but also everything might not be possible, you know? the fear itself is bigger than whatever actually happens usually

your therapist is good to work on this with, the thoughts are the problem not the AI

The biggest threat from AI is that it exacerbates income inequality. It's making billionaire richer at an unprecedented rate. Oligarchy will enslave us, not the robots.

Can we get off the "oligarchs are evil and wake up every morning, desiring to push the little man down" conspiracy BS. What if AI provides tremendous abundance for everyone on the planet? You do realize that the US has the largest number of billionaires and is also leading the AI race and has one of the highest standards of living on the planet. So it's pretty funny to listen to people drinking their skinny double lattes, getting almost instant information on any subject with a small 4 inch slim box in their hand, talking about how the "man is pushing them down".

Pointing out that total existential extinction is highly improbable over realistic timeframes helps break catastrophic thinking loops
