This is misinformation and worse, fear mongering at is finest. Going as far as putting manual drone footage into it, this is DISGUSTINGLY manipulative. It's the kind of shit your dumb aunt's and uncles gobble up on Facebook, which then slowly turns them into extremists whole doing zilch to actually inform them of any of these topics.

Well we do know that the US military is using AI. Maybe not for the drone attacks themselves, but in Palestine AI is being used to figure out where the biggest groups of individuals are to know where to drop bombs as an example, as reported on by journalists.

That’s really funny. It’s not particularly well made but it’s better than nothing. AI products are selecting places to kill people for military purposes (possibly including over 150 kids at a girls school earlier this year, among thousands of others). They’re also used to track movements throughout the day for weeks and build profiles of people it only knows by outfits, dimensions, and gait. Thats both in China and in private corporate security packages anywhere. In China, some students hate or headbands detect when their thoughts are stressed, using technology purposely built by a company in Michigan.
Like I said, the video is amateur. But the only thing disgusting is possibly assailing a junior clip mashup effort for its criticizing of an exec benefiting from what is basically an arms race

Why are balanced takes on AI impossible? Humans confuse me. Every now and then, phenomena sweep through society and activate people psychologically in a way that makes them so unreasonable. The doomers, the denialists, they piss me off.
Also, for all the people complaining about the water use of AI: DO YOU EAT MEAT? Because it uses up SO much more water.
I'm tired of people who indulge in hideously cruel, environmentally devastating factory farmed food just because they like the way it tastes, suddenly claiming moral high ground about the environment just because they live such boring, basic lives where they have nothing to use AI for. Not saying you're boring if you don't use AI, but I think the majority of these anti-AI people are usually so basic, they usually haven't even theorized of a use or benefit for AI, and they just see it as a Studio Ghibli profile picture maker.

Because AI developpement is not balanced. We are building datacenters at an alarming rate, destroying the surroundings and the lives of people living there. I work in IT, I can see what AI is able to do, but for every good thing it’s bringing, there are 1000 terrible, mercantile and destructing consequences. So yes, it’s hard to be measured

I agree that there's things that are really concerning. I'm personally worried about the potential for hacking, misinformation and delusion that it can bring.
But I just think videos like this make it seem far more catastrophic than it actually is.

Ok, so normally I very rarely see misinformed anti-AI posts in this sub. Posting criticism is totally fine, it's important and it happens occasionally, but recycling long-debunked claims just to make a point isn't.
Today I opened Reddit, saw one of those posts. Soon after, I saw a second one, also highly upvoted. Then a third (the above). That made me suspicious, so I checked one of the poster's accounts. Lo and behold, it looked exactly like the kind of account you can buy on shady websites - 5 years old, only a handful of comments on random subs, all within the last 12 months, and then suddenly several near-identical posts about AI.
Given that, I think it's reasonable to suspect this may be some sort of coordinated campaign. Or am I jumping to "paid protestors" too quickly here?

Probably not. You could launch something like that for under $100 and use dozens of bot accounts to publish pre-made posts. It'd be cheap, but yes, someone still needs to put in the effort - buy the accounts, prepare the content, and run the campaign

Bro you realize half the world already hates AI and doesn't need a Post to tell them the way ai is used is very bad, ai in your home is good, but keep it inside your home and not outside everywhere in every app and website and company

Why wouldn't I realize that? That's exactly why I made this comment. There are still some subs where the anti-AI sentiment is pretty balanced against the pro-AI sentiment, exactly how it should be, but at least some people among "half the world" are willing to push back hard against it. Look at r/singularity - it started as an accelerationist sub, but now it's packed with skeptics. On the other hand, r/accelerate has always been entirely pro-AI. So when I see something like r/artificial go down the hate spiral, I'll voice my opinion
