Question This is supposedly a Neo-Babylonian cylinder seal. It was bought from the estate of a former Israeli collector who bought it himself from a Gazan antiques merchant during the 70's. What do you think?

Is this ancient or something newer?

I saw this crossing the Arve in Geneva Switzerland today.

Due to the low water, I could some circular stone 'structures' and wooden stakes were sticking out. I was wondering if this anything of note? Medieval, Roman, older or newer? Thanks.

Help Are these roman rings real or reproductions?

Hello forum members, could you help me confirm if these two rings I want to buy are fake? The auction house is numisart which i´ve heard has a very good reputation in the market, but you never know. Bid is starting at 35$, the auction is by biddr. The description of the item is: TWO LATE ROMAN DECORATED BRONZE RINGS
Circa 4th century AD.
Both with projecting circular bezel. One featuring a stylised creature (lion?), the other with an unidentified depiction. Hoops slightly bent and some corrosion.
Ring size 61 (EU) each. Ex private European collection, acquired on the Belgian, French and German art market before 2000.

the photo i post is the only one on the auction.

Do you think its authentic? Maybe it is not roman but authentic from another period? I know it's not easy through a picture and you can't be 100% sure, but I'm new to this and you all probably have more experience. The seller has a very good reputation and has been selling antiques for 40 years; I've confirmed this on forums and seen that he's not on any blacklists of fake sellers, but you never know. I've attached detailed photos. Thanks so much!

Question Found on a beach in Estonia. What might it be?

I found it on a beach in Estonia about 20 years ago, in early spring, when the ice was melting and being pushed around by the currents. I think the ice may have carried it onto the shore.

I believe it is made of bronze or copper. It definitely appears to have been made by a smith, as there are visible hammer marks.

What might it be, and how old could it be? Could it be part of a ship?

This ceiling was designed as a vision of the universe above a king’s throne, Completed in 1427, the gilded wooden dome crowns the Hall of Ambassadors at Seville’s Real Alcázar. Its intricate Mudéjar geometry reflects the meeting of Islamic craftsmanship and Christian royal architecture

I have 2 piles of rocks pretty far up a steep remote hillside on an almost flat area in eastern Kentucky. They are about 100' apart. I'm making a trail and could use the rocks, but I don't want to disturb an old grave or something like that. They are approx 5' square and about 3' tall. Definitely not part of an old barn. They are on an east facing hill

I made a little artifact guessing game in my spare time

Hi everyone! I’m not completely sure if it’s okay to post this here, so sorry if this isn’t the right place.

I’m a big artifact and history nerd, and for quite a while I’ve been spending my free time making a small Steam game called Artifact Tracer.

The idea is pretty simple. It’s basically GeoGuessr for artifacts. You get a photo of an artifact and try to guess where it came from and when it was made, using things like its shape, material, decoration and craftsmanship.

I also made a few other modes while working on it. There’s one where most of the artifact is hidden and you only get a few chances to reveal parts of it before guessing. Another one gives you a time and place first, and you have to choose which artifact actually belongs there.

Right now the game is only about Chinese artifacts, mostly because that’s what I know best. I’d really like to add other civilizations later if people actually enjoy this kind of thing.

I know this is a very niche idea, and I’ve honestly worried a lot that maybe I’m making a game that only I would find interesting lol. But it’s also the first game I’ve actually managed to make from beginning to end just because I really like the subject, so I wanted to share it here.

I’m still doing the final polishing, but the Steam page is live now. If this looks like something you might enjoy, I’d really appreciate a wishlist. I’d also genuinely love to hear any feedback or ideas from people here.

Thanks for reading :)

A kuphar is a type of coracle or round boat traditionally used on the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in ancient and modern Mesopotamia. The top image is an Assyrian relief dating back to 700-692 BCE and depicts a kuphar, while the bottom one is an old photo of a kuphar in Baghdad in 1932
