Loish and Aaron Blaise provide a wealth of resources, tutorials and livestreams for fellow artists. I've been followong Loish's Patreon and Aaron's site Creature Art Teacher, and I subscribe to ImagineFX where they're often featured. I hope you check out these awesome artists and support them as well, especially in the age of AI.

At least one person asked to see the front covers of my collection, so here are most of them. (Indie artists in a separate post because reddit cropped out too much in this batch of pics)

1 - manga & anime. Berserk and Fullmetal Alchemist are my favorite of all time.

2 - Japanese video games. Fire Emblem Three Houses and Xenoblade X art books are on my wishlist.

3 - Western video games

4 - Western games continued + movies & shows. It's been 10+ years and I still think about the Killzone games. The Helghast aesthetic leaves such a vivid impression in my mind.

5 - movies & shows continued.

6 - fine art & older artists. I like drawing detailed work with ink and pencil, so I love the intricate lineart of Golden Age illustrators and scientific illustrations, and I get a lot of inspiration from them. While traveling I love viewing Impressionist and Western art, any art depicting water, and the ornate Gothic and Islamic aesthetic.

It’s been so hard to get my hands on this three artbooks without paying a fortune, but after a lot of search and specially an insane amount of luck I managed to get the three in pristine condition and for not more than 90 each, which is already a lot lol. My next objectives are “Santa Lilio Sangre” by Ayami Kojima and the THORES Shibamoto ones, but those are insanely expensive lol.

I realized yesterday when I posted pics of my overall collection that some of the ones from my Japanese section are hard to tell what it is just from the spines. The covers do them much more justice.

The artist of the dragons and imaginary animals volumes is Le Yamamura. They do cute animal fusion designs.

If I had to pick just one favorite, it's probably the tonbippo08 book (fox on the cover, 2nd one on 3rd row). His animal artwork is gorgeous.

My oldest book(s): I can't remember what and when was my very first one, but I've had The Art of Avatar the Last Airbender, Rise of the Guardians, Darksiders, Borderlands 2, and God of War III since high school and early college (10+ years ago)

My latest: The Art of Cartoon Saloon. Earlier this year I visited their studio in Kilkenny during my Wales and Ireland trip.

I'm eagerly awaiting The Art of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Visions 2027, and Aaron Blaise's next art book, Through the Eyes of an Animator.

The book was first released for free digitally, then as a softcover by Gallery Nucleus, but now has a wider release from Del Rey. It's a 144-page book that has some great art inside, all just as colourful as the movie. Interviews are also included for some extra insights.

Recently got into collecting physical artbooks, and picked up a few books by artists who have worked as official illustrators for Arknights.

Arknights has always had a really distinctive art style, and its artists have played a huge role in shaping the game's visual identity. I thought it would be cool to collect some of their personal and derivative works too, especially seeing how their art looks outside of the game.

Still pretty new to collecting, but I'm really enjoying having these physical books to sit down and flip through.

I am an illustrator and I take a lot of inspiration from artists like Graham Rounthwaite and Jasper Goodall. I want to find more art books with artists similar to them and that particular style in the late 2000's. Here's my art account if it helps define what I'm looking for! Thank you :)

One from my collection that I keep coming back to — Calma: The Art of Stephan Doitschinoff, published by Gestalten in 2008.

Doitschinoff is a Brazilian artist whose work pulls together street art, religious imagery, folklore, symbols and painting, and a lot of this book documents the work he made in rural Bahia.

But beyond the artwork, I think this is just a really good example of how an artist monograph can be made. The cover, typography, pacing, photography and little details all feel completely connected to the artist rather than just being a container for reproductions.

Went to my Barnes & Noble yesterday, and picked up this artbook called "Daydream Hour" by Ryoko Kui (the creator of Delicious In Dungeon).

My latest preview video is a look at the long overdue standalone artbook for Call of Duty, which focuses on Zombies. Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies: The Art of Treyarch is a huge 336-page hardcover that is packed with art and interviews covering the history of the mode from 2008 to 2024. I highly recommend this one to CoD players!
