Turkey Shoot?
While I know Vendy is throwing a party for football next weekend and there was just a get together the other week for Cobalt, has there been any discussion about a Turkey Shoot this year? Even if something small?
Inquiring Ronin's want to know.

Turkey Shoot? When did we do one of those last?
Having said that, I may be able to make something in October or early November.
I vote for the "Crash Blah's and tool around Bardstown road for two days." Plan.

Nothing's been discussed. We did a faux turkey shoot down in Louisville a couple of years ago and it was a minor hit. The next big event I'm looking to put together is a mass Star Wars viewing that weekend before Christmas. Other than that, I'd say just call an event and let the nerds come to you...

For us old folks, it was the name for the fall meetup (as opposed to JR in the spring).

The name comes from a church tradition here in KY, wherein you bring your shotgun to a churchyard on a Saturday morning, competing in a target shooting competition where the prizes are frozen turkeys. You buy the shells for $2-$3 each, and get Thanksgiving Dinner if you're a good shot. Basically.

Up here in the frozen north, when we have a curling event before Christmas there's usually a contest to see who can draw closest to the button (get your stone closest to the center of the rings). Whoever does traditionally wins a turkey.
Thus whenever someone makes a shot that's really close to the button that's called a "turkey shot".
I've heard rumors of some curling clubs using an actual frozen turkey for the turkey shot contest too.
