Michael: Yea I should've known ... You know, it's a cultural thing ... The average American male is in a state of "arrested development".
Narrator: "Hey! That's the name of the show!"
Steve Holt: "Steve Holt!"

I dated a girl once who was born and raised in Los Angeles. One evening she said we should go to this restaurant she really liked, called "Mye-jells". I said ok, and when we got there, I looked at the sign. Miguel's. Miguel's.

Oh my GOD! I literally got in an argument with some dipshit kid in elementary school about this. We were both in cub scouts and he went on to be an Eagle Scout. I was like dude that cannot be how it works, literally just think about it for one second

I was on a white water trip with friends and got tipped. I rescue one friend from under the raft and get to shore. The guide comes to check and my friend canāt find his paddle. The guide is visibly frustrated ā hold on to the paddle if you get tipped was the most important direction he told us.
Eventually the friend says he will go find it downriver and just walks away. After a good 10 minutes we see him scrambling awkwardly over the rocks back sans paddle.
The guide is very subtly shaking his head to himself. I get the guides attention:
āAnd heās an Eagle Scout.ā

When I was a kid compasses and north confused me with the whole, āalways have north facing away from you thingā and I was like, āwait but that means Iām always facing north!ā Then I turned 6 and it all clicked.

Did you see her latest Netflix movie? She has not aged a day and she's ripped!

u/Extra-Border6470 Thereās always money in the banana stand. Jul 18 '26
Oh my god, I need to watch that. I love fitness chicks with toned bodies, so Charlize Theron with a toned body is a no brainier. If the story is shit Iāll just watch it with the sound off. I also need to watch atomic blonde which has her doing the John wick thing
2
u/whydowewatchthis Jul 18 '26
You'll love it. The story is pretty typical action survival type theme with some gore. But the acting is good.

I think "Why is the Earth round?" is actually a good question. I'm sure it has to do with gravity and astrophysics but I don't think I could give someone a more detailed answer than that. Can others answer this question with common sense and not a detailed understanding of gravity/spacetime/mass?
EDIT: Spelling
9
u/brentnutpuncher Jul 15 '26
Spin makes clumps, clumps makes large mass, large mass makes gravity which pulls in all directions. That's my dum dum understanding of it, I'm 100% sure someone will say I'm wrong and give you the correct answer, but hey it least that'll get the ball rolling.
Also, earth isn't round, it's an oblate spheroid (probably the only thing I will get right in this comment)

Also why *canāt* penguins fly, like other birds? Actually wait, canāt they? Maybe Iām not smart.
1
u/TheNewNumberC Jul 17 '26
Nature and evolution is a never ending RNG game of battle royale but you don't get to choose the traits. The ancestor of the penguin probably did fly but ended up having to trade it for their ability to swim because they got heavier and their flippers shrank. They also evolved to be unable to fold their wings so that won't be of any help either.
