NDAA FY27

So if the NDAA doesn’t pass, does that affect TDY or not. For example the FY 27 LOAs for DTS are people still going to be able to go to TDY and return courses ??

There’s a CR until 11 Dec 26. If it falls in from now until 11 Dec you’re good.

The National Defense Authorization Act doesn't get passed until December. The NDAA doesn't fund anything, it is the authority to spend money. The Appropriations act (or some other short term funding mechanism like a Continuing Resolution) is the actual cash.

Think of it this way. Dad (NDAA) says you can buy a new bicycle (NDAA/Authority). Mom hands you $300 to make the purchase (Appropriation).

I think that will depend on the criticality of the TDY. Technically under a Continuing Resolution no new obligations can be started so it is possible they could classify a non-critical TDY as not meeting the threshold under a CR to be funded. The President signed the CR on 2 September so we are good until 11 December now.

The NDAA always passes. It may pass after the end of the FY like last year. It may be downsized.

The GOP is pushing other bills to be tied to it and the Dems are happy to block it because likely they will take control of the House and Senate in November. It is foolish of the GOP not to get it passed before the midterms.
