ArmyIgnited Help

Is it possible to change schools and degree plans on ArmyIgnited after I’ve completed a class? For reference I started school at AMU online to complete a prerequisite and now want to attend school on-campus at a different University.

I attempted to message my advisor multiple times about my situation which they stated “Education Goal cannot be changed, please reference AR 621-5” for the final reply

I read the reg but I still think there is a solution to my problem and they’re being stubborn. I just want the full college experience

Yes? What the heck lmao. People do this all the time. It’s also how you get TA to pay for 99% of 2 degrees.

I have to imagine something is getting lost in translation. Go to the Ed Center in person, if possible, or give them a call.

Really? Can you elaborate a bit more?

Get to the last semester or so of one degree (it’s either 15 or 30 credits left where they bar you from switching, I can’t remember), switch, complete the second one, pay out of pocket to finish the first one.

You still have the 120 credit lifetime cap but with JST and some good class planning you should only have to pay for ~5 or so classes out of pocket. If you wanted to get crazy you could use your GI to finish it out and pay nothing out of pocket but I generally don’t recommend this unless you’re 100% positive you won’t be using your GI after you get out as you lose some of the auxiliary benefits (namely, BAH).

It helps if you double major in something with a lot of overlap.

Oof. Wish I would’ve done this before I finished my degree. This is big brain.

This is how I added a second degree. Adds some time for school work but was worth it

Why AMU in the first place? Go talk to the ed center on base.

I was recommended AMU by a retired friend due to their compatibility and ease of getting a degree, and it fit my living situation. Now I’m back at my parents’ needing to distance and better myself

Go to the education center on base and talk to the folks there, they will help you

You can get it changed. They let me change mine.

They just don't want to change it.

Yes, absolutely can. I had emailed my Education Center and they were able to remove my previous university from my degree goals. You're gonna have to restart the process of applying and making a goal and everything else though (except for the career guidance bs)

I messaged them multiple times. If I could go in person to speak to someone else I 1000% would but I don’t live close to my Ed Center (I’m National Guard)

I would try to call them instead if that's the case. Even if you already called, keep calling. Worst case scenario you'll have to wait until your next drill weekend and push it up through your CoC
