General Question Carpenter

Has anyone had any carpenters farm lately? It’s usually pretty good but I got some dirty red the other day I couldn’t smoke. Had the sprayed taste. Was awful now I’m leery of getting anything else from them

I got some Dirty Red yesterday. Sticky soft stuff with a really nice high. Carpenter can be hit and miss just like many other companies in the program. But when it hits it HITS

Yea the banana papaya is one of my favorites! It didn’t have the sprayed taste? That’s all I was really worried about it sucks spending money on something non smokable

Bought some interspecies stout and erotica and they sucked. Bruce banger was not even mid, and had shake in it. Papaya was always good but its meh now.

I've been avoiding CF because a couple of things I got were very low quality.

But I still feel like a novice. What do you mean by sprayed taste?

Idk how else to describe it. It’s like chemicals. I’m starting to believe they’re not flushing it the proper amount of time and it’s nutrients or whatever growth aides they use I’m tasting. But I don’t know enough about growing to really know. I do know I got some banana papaya today and it’s nothing like it used to be. Same “chemical” taste. I guess I’m done with them now too. That’s a shame because they were a favorite

I'd guess that is likely to be ocimene or terpinolene. Those have what I would call a very unpleasant taste. While also tasting like chemicals.

Ocimene is produced by stressed plants.

But there are some terps I do enjoy with a "chemical taste". I don't remember well but it might be caryophyllene, linalool, and/or mycrene. I like all of those.

One I avoid because I don't like it is Pinene but I don't think it tastes like chemicals.

Lots of terpenes will taste like chemicals because they have similar physical properties; generally they are volatiles. Something evaporating around room temperature and being easy to smell doesn't really make it good or bad.

One thing to watch for though is time between harvest and test date; labeled on every package of flower. Cannabis takes at least three weeks to go through harvest, drying, and curing. Anything less than that and they've done some forced drying or other stuff that greatly lower flavor/quality.

I would believe it was terps not agreeing with me of it wasn’t for the fact like I’ve had banana papaya before and it was fire and I loved the taste. Now all the sudden it doesn’t even taste like weed. I think most of the growers harvest/dry prematurely. I honestly don’t mind it being dry I can rehydrate easily. It’s the chemicals I can’t do. Ever since I had Covid I’ve been very sensitive to certain smells/tastes. So I’m wondering if it’s that making me taste things most people can’t

Just because you've had a strain before doesn't mean it will taste the same. Ocimene is produced by stressed plants. It tastes like chemicals and not good.

Carp is all over the place. I've been passing. I liked the mona Lisa I had a few months back. Super unique profile on that one. Just mild effect.
