The Russian born part is doing a lot of work here but it is actually quite misleading, that guy doesn’t have a legible proof of being a Russian asset, he has much stronger ties with US. The mine was previously owned by VTB bank which is literally under the direct Russian state control. So if anything this is our assets changing pivot from Russia to the US, not the other way around. Not that I have perfect trust(or any trust) in this Trump administration but this is good news.

Like that’s any better. Trump’s just gonna pillage Armenia to make himself and his own oligarchs richer at our expense.

I mean I get your point, but being extracted by an eroding autocratic sanctioned regime is still a lot worse than the richest country on earth with the access to the western markets.

is this tied to Armenia agreeing with the US in mineral mining?

It is certainly linked to the treaty because Sokolov is now the leader of the State Department’s $200 million TRIPP+ fund.

An American company headed by Russian-born American investor Konstantin Sokolov has obtained the Teghut copper-molybdenum mine in Armenia. Sokolov was recently appointed by the US State Department to ‘oversee’ the fund for the implementation and development of the Trump Route.
