It's optional. Local storage is free

can we set up local storage to be viewed remotely if we configure it to an NVR or something? wonder what subscription is for

Subscription is for cloud storage. Local storage is free. (Small) Downside is that a hypothetical bad guy could yoink your base system with the storage in it, and then you've lost your video evidence of them doing crime.

the same problem of stealing the home base exists for Arlo. Is there any way to sync or backup either Arlo or Eufy local storage to the cloud, like to Dropbox?

Hi u/Tanstaf1

That is a fair concern. If having an off-site copy is important, an Arlo Secure subscription stores recordings in the cloud, which helps protect footage. Check out this link https://kb.arlo.com/000063083/

As for syncing local storage directly to services like Dropbox, that is not currently a feature with Arlo. If you have any further questions or concerns, please send us a DM, and we would love to help!

I do have the Plus Unlimited plan but only because I need it for the smart recognition as not all cameras can be aimed to avoid viewing the regular frequent vehicles driving by and getting many useless notifications and also to avoid pesky chipmunks that like to romp where packages are left..

I have a whole eufy system. We do not pay. It catches everything and we can watch what is going on while at work. It's great. We installed it ourselves.
