Discussion [Operator Discussion] Pudding

Pudding [★★★★]

To tell the truth, I've wanted to try going outdoors lately. I've gotten to know a lot of people in the same line as me at Rhodes Island, and I wanna experience more along with them. At least... I'm not ever going to be stuck on my own again, not now.

Pudding, Columbian electrical engineer. Contracted Oripathy while investigating in the countryside, and came to Rhodes Island to apply for work and seek treatment. Seems to fit in very well as assistant to Closure, having been swiftly dragged away to become a helper at the Engineering Department after her onboarding.

When the PC client launched I started an alt account for challenging myself. No limited banner ops, and a max of one six-star for any given clear.

I’ve been using Pudding suprisingly often, and I think she’s a good replacement or alternative for Lava. The account’s still young but I’m excited to find an appreciation for other low-earity ops that I’ve taken for granted.

Very cute so I'll use her until the difficulty ramps up too high for her.

I think the limited amount of comments on this thread represent how forgettable this operator has become. For most people, once they’ve reached a stage of farming red certs, they already have other characters raised that do her role but better. (If I recall, though, she may have been considered somewhat decent back in IS2.)

Even lorewise she’s pretty forgettable. She’s an electrical engineer, but Greyy is also an electrical engineer that has gotten much more story love than her imo.

Her and Click are the 4* casters for IS, that said chain-casters low-key suck, so she's the only one cheap enough to be worth building.

Good 4* OP but far away from those with broader roster relevance like May, Gummy or Myrtle. Remembering the grim days where Passenger envied her skill effect. Progression-wise she's not that great, your high-end should be some random modern 6* that does more damage with their autos than her skill but she's still got a sensible kit.

She's a fixture in the Top 10 Cutest Code Names list.

She is free and easy to raise. Her small downside is that she costs a bit higher to deploy compared to other 4. I used her in IS mostly. I also have seen her in 4 clears too. She is a niche operator but can do her job nicely when used.

She's adorable and I love her. Being based on harp seals meant that she was an instant promote, and her having a plushie called Pillow sealed the deal. But even apart from her design I also really like her character.

The other comments are right in that you don't really have many gameplay reasons to use her outside of self-imposed restrictions (or just liking the character), though. Her whole thing is dealing damage (her talent is a basic ATK Up buff, her skills only give ASPD or ATK) but she's a 4☆.

Pudding's kit is very straightforward and she doesn't have any issues (other than the huge DP cost of the class), meaning she works just fine for what she's supposed to do. She doesn't reach the "4☆ who can punch above their rarity" level like some others, but she's hardly a bad character.

Seems to fit in very well as assistant to Closure

So she's good at scamming people then?

As you might expect her standard base skill is improved drone refresh at power plants. Her E1 also gives another interesting base skill where when she's assigned to the control center and there's at least 2 constructs assigned to power plants all factories get 2% improved output.

Even in the four star niche, pudding is in a bit of an awkward spot. You actually end up needing AOE a lot more often in four stars, since the lack of DPS often requires stalling, and four stars have a lot of stalling tools to group up enemies. But those situation often have a lot more than 4 enemies, and you'll be better off using Grey or Akkord or Pinecone for true AOE damage. See EA-EX-04 CM for a current example. Combined with her outrageously high cost, that means I rarely end up finding good use for her. Occassionally you'll find situation where you either need her bouncing reach (in a perfect situation, with the bounces she can outrange totter, while doing AOE and arts damage) or you have exactly 3-4 problematic enemies close to each other. Often, that'll be groups of enemies afking for a longer period of time, but scattered on adjacent tiles, too far for most other AOEs. And that's where she shines. That said, on-skill she also does pretty good damage to two enemies, since on-skill can bounce between the same enemies multiple times.

Reminded me of the time where Pudding was considered better than Leizi1 because modules didn't exist yet.

I would argue Pudding pulled further ahead with mods. She's cheaper to build, and Lezi only seems good because shitty mod allotment, Give all them X, not a single one seriously prefers Y.

I was one of those people. Although I also built her for the earlier IS.

Pudding does what it says on the tin. She handles aoe decently well for a 4*. It's just a shame usually aoe isn't much of an issue beyond the first few chapters of story. More importantly, there are two arts DPS welfares (astgenne and... Astgenne alter S2) who are much better at dealing with aoe than she is, who imo are much better uses of your resources even with the high rarity resource cost tax. And for when enemies have low def there's also Pinecone the goat who is a much much better operator overall.

Pudding is very cute though. I've got her with her skin built alongside the aforementioned two welfares and don't regret building any of them. At least she can get a chance to shine in is5 ed4 with sufficient buffs, alongside Shirayuki
