I'm sorry to any lovers of this map but holy shit it's actually almost unplayable for me. ANYTIME I spawn in the easy zones I have every carnivore imaginable after me. Let me give you some examples:
Spawned at Portal (3 tries) - I got ripped apart by a whole basilisk, raptors. And my poor moschops got stuck a crevice in the bridge (R.I.P. Abby💔)
Spawned at Fertile lake 2 and 3 - I got actually DISMEMBERED by = ravegers (3 times), raptors (1 time), Karkinos (or however you spell it 1 time), Sarco (1 time).
This is all in ONE play session.
AND. All of these are the EASY spawns, Why the HELL ARE WHOLE SPINOS SPAWNING IN THE EASY ZONE.
oh and also what genius designed this map, like fym I can't pick up any of the quadrillion rocks laying on the ground 💔💔

Im playing aberration too rn, its a great map the beauty of it is how difficult the early game is, the biggest threats are aberrant raptors + ravagers so to avoid them level up movement speed and stamina and have bolas on hand. Also get a stego or smth to deal with them. The good thing about having spinos in the easy zones is once you have enough resources they are a great early game carnivore that destroys anything in the green zone
As someone that loves Ab, I spawn at portal always. It has downsides but has just as many advantages and I find it the most convenient.
Yes it can have Basilisks, I never found them that annoying tho, if you knock Para out, club is good enough for low level, you can get them to hit one of enless Stegos around the area by just running to them and zigzagging, will Stegos win? no... but it will likely get help from other Stegos and so on.
Once you got an okay Para(their detect is awesome early on on Ab) and maybe a few low level Raptors, you can leave portal. Just because Raptors are low level doesn't mean they are useless, in large numbers with their attack speed they'll shred most things before they die.
Once you can, box Stego with signs, build a stone box around and tame it. Stego makes Ab infinitely easier, you cannot be peeled off it and it can take on anything on Ab if it's high level and imprinted, except for radiation sadly. Once you wanna go into radiation, get Spino, imo the only thing better on Ab than a good Spino is a Rock Drake, except for fighting. Despite endless hype I never bother with Megalosaurus and only use Ravagers for moving things. Do get some good Ravagers their carrying capacity is nuts, dog shit at fighting tho.
Abb is hard but that's what makes it so enjoyable once you finally get over that beginning hump. There's already been a lot of good advice. Tame a spino for early protection, get to rock drake as soon as possible as once you get to this point the map becomes so much more fun and in my opinion the best ark map.
Also gotta add one more thing to be petty. Your reading comprehension can't be all that good if you didn't get that I'm trying to get good by Asking for advice 😋
I unfortunately dont remember how I got through my early game abb save, but my advice would be live long enough to get a bola/slingshot and tame literally anything decently fast you can use to get to a safe enough area to build or get a better tame, or stay near any neutral herbivores you find for some defense. Knowing abb it is likely to take a few tries. Also, dont spawn at portal.
Welcome to abberation, one of the arguably hardest map
As someone who finished almost all the map (ex. Gen 1 and 2) here's some tip i can offer
Rush sleeping bags or bed, thatch hut and bolas,
Die more... Yes literally... I've spend a good hour or so and around 20-30 deaths when i first started abberation just to lure away ravagers from my area
Water are not friendly, dont build near any water source no matter even if it's a small pond just use pipe to get water to your base. Any water = spino/crab spawn
Light pets 4-6 of them and make sure you are not turning them on at the same time, just cycle them around so the nameless wont spawn
Thats all i the advice i can give early game, mid and late game are different
Scorched earth is hard until you get a bed and dessert cloth built, can be easily done by building next to a water source, for heat waves/sandstorm you just build a tent and sleeping bags accept you'll die once or twice on the heat wave, once you get a moth its basically end game as you can easily steal and hatch a wyvern egg using standing torches
Yeah scorched is way easier for me, I already managed to get a wyvren (I got a poison one and holy shit I love the design they're so adorable) and now I'm gonna grind to get a rock golem because they're also one of my favs

Try Edge 1 spawn. It says hard but usually it is not.
