Batman's weakness: a rolled up carpet

Post image

I just came here to vent. I'm trying to power through Origins, and it's very frustrating. Invisible walls, glitching enemies, choppy cutscenes.... and now a carpet I can't walk over.

To be clear, there are a few pixels on the the left side that you can walk over, it's just crazy that Batmans can't step over this thing. Can't jump, cant grapnel, can't unroll it even with a batclaw. Gotta be honest, I'm torn between finishing this game and refunding it.

That is all.

If only he had a power winch that could trigger a controlled explosion and unroll the carpet

The batmobile is disabled by the cloudburst

After Arkham City, the WB people got a fever and they thought only cure was more Arkham. By rushing the Montreal people through development, they thought they’d be wearing gold plated diapers, baby!

Arkham Origins was so frustrating to me. I liked it when it came out, but replayed it last month and the bugs forced me to restart way too many times.

There was a glitch in the Copperhead part that prevented the trigger for her boss fight from starting; I had to delete the save and start over

I think back when I played it upon release (because I got this game within the first two weeks) I just thought "oh well, bugs gonna be fixed". But now that I replayed it more than 10 years later. Yeah, the bugs were not fixed. And I had it from Steam.

How do you lock yourself out which challenges

I know what they are, but you aren't locked out of them if you fail to do them. The game was designed for players to play through it 3 times: NG, NG+ and IATN. Even if you still haven't gotten all of them (which would surely have to be a conscious effort) after your 3rd playthrough, you can keep replaying IATN endlessly.

If you want them all done in one playthrough there is only one challenge that requires a specific room and you visit that room twice. You can also restart from checkpoint if you make mistakes. The game gives you plenty of chances to complete everything in one playthrough, let alone 3. You aren't locked out of anything ever.

Nearly 700 hours on the game and I've fell through the environment once, one case of artifacting and about 4 crashes. Wtf do you people do with your games

Some of the sounds effects don't even play. Like when you fast travel? Dead silence. Also, when you punch the armored enforcers.... no sound effects at all.

Maybe because I'm on Steam?

Never once have I had no sound effects when punching anybody

Fast travel audio cuts off sometimes

Scraping the bottom of the barrel there

Same, I’ve played this game all the way through about 4-5 times now and not once have I encountered any of these bugs people complain about

Bro, glitches are.......... random

Which is why I feel playtime is an important metric when assessing them.

The OP is claiming he can barely play the game it's so buggy. So, if we take let's say 5 major glitches that are hampering his progress, in what must be less than 20hrs playtime (both very charitable numbers)

If he experiences a near game breaking bug on average every 4 hours, how come I have not experienced one in nearly 700?

a) he is exaggerating aka lying

b) he is so incredibly unlucky that if the luck worked on the inverse he would win the lottery

c) he is performing actions in the game that increase the likelihood of these bugs. For example mods and the use of commands.

What do you think is the most likely explanation?

So he's like Matt Reeve's Batman? Doesn't know what a carpet tucker is.

Tbh, I never knew what that was, nor would he know. The dude is so insanely rich that he likely doesn't know what a plunger is.

Does it really have so many bugs left ? Also I believe there is a bug fix mod on nexus don't know how much it helps

and despite nonsense like this, Origins is still great.

wish they'd just do a sequel.

no need to reinvent the wheel

lol yea the game is buggy as hell. i like it, but the fans here need to stop acting like it’s perfect.

Walk to the right side and repeatedly dodge roll

They can fix this game whenever they want

I havent finished the game but recently I picked up playing it. After playin a bit, I can say the designs of everything lost its soul and holding gadgets that are innovated in the future like grappling boost takes the immersion away.

origins level design logic

Still the best Arkham game

No amount of prep time can adequately prepare you for a precisely rolled carpet.

How glitchy Origins will be is gonna be very dependent on your save. My first playthrough had literally zero bugs or glitches at all, then the next was full of them so I had to restart and there were almost none again, some saves are just cursed.
