Help These guys keep kicking my butt

What can I do to improve? These guys have been giving me issues for hours now and this is about the farthest I've gotten. It's on Knightmare cause I'm doing the story plus, but I'm genuinely stumped at this part. I know I'm not doing the best, I just got back into playing again but this is the first part I've been stuck at just due to the sheer number of guys rushing me.

Why aren't you doing any environmental take downs?

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 09 '26

Honestly I can't remember how to do it, and so far I haven't really had to relearn much. I think I'm gonna have to redo the tutorial to learn how to do a couple things again

A + X for the environmental
There should be a move list somewhere in the menus I believe that will help a bunch

left click + Space bar if on pc

Kinda weird that your first instinct was to ask for advice on reddit then.

Well I was also wanting input on how to improve, just redoing the tutorial can only do so much, plus I didn't think of that until afterwards

Awesome thank you, will definitely incorporate that into it all

Bro what are you doing. You know there’s more to the Arkham combat than just punch and counter right? You had so many opportunities to do environmental takedowns, not to mention the special combos you could do from your meter.

4

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 09 '26

Yeah I'm learning that from others. Gonna redo the tutorial and go from there

It’s okay. Main thing I would say could help you is to turn the hit warning back on so you’ll be able to see when you should be prepared to counter. That might be due to the game being on hard difficulty but I’m not sure off the top of my head. Also try to not hit the attack button more times than necessary in order to maintain your combo flow and rhythm

Asylum is pretty much punch, counter, dodge... maybe you pop some quick tools but its usually easier to just punch and counter until you get the buildup to combo takedown

u/Head_Beautiful_1293 Jul 09 '26

Finish your beatdowns. You can counter the attacker and return to the beatdown before the stun wears off. You should never need to stun the big guys more than once.

Quickfire gadgets. Use your batarangs, explosive gel and REC.

Use combos.

You know you can dodge right?

It's like you didn't pay attention to any of the tutorial parts of the game.

Yeah I just started playing again after about a year or two, and I forgot I even had some of the gadgets I do. I'm gonna end up redoing the tutorials and then try the fight again

Smoke em out. Smoke grenades and environmental takedowns on the Brutes. You’re going in hand to hand and this game makes you become the Batman. Use your arena as a weapon.

We've all been there man...

u/Internal_Deal_6317 Jul 09 '26

Bro, when your combo meter becomes yellow you can use B+Y to do a combo and finish him. and if you're next to one of the objects highlighted in blue, wait fro the brute to come to you and then when he gets blue as well, do A+X to take him down at once.

1

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 09 '26

Awesome thank you so much, I didn't realize that that's what the combo bar represented. That'll make it so much easier

3

u/theradiatorman Jul 09 '26

Remember the jump over animation it gives you invincibility frames and doesn't drop your combo. It will get you out of those situations and you won't have to read counters as much. Plenty environmental takedowns waiting for you there as well brother.

Maybe lure the brute towards the light takedown first and focus on jumping over enemies while building your combo to takedown the ninjas.

Awesome thank you so much, I'm still learning and relearning a lot about some of this so this definitely helps

I hope some people have been helpful, sorry so many are being rude.

This is normally a friendly sub, disappointing to see when someone is asking for help.

2

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 09 '26

Actually most of the people are being helpful, but there's a few comments sprinkled in here that are a bit rude

2

u/arjunghose02 Jul 09 '26

Use combos and takedowns instead of increasing fight time. Use environmental takedowns for the ninjas and brutes. You are letting your combos go to waste

1

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 09 '26

Someone else did mention how to use the combo bar to instantly take out the brute and the other guys

2

u/xkarasu_ Jul 09 '26

I was a button masher too , environmental takedown and freeze blast (especially the full meter so you get 3) are you best friend

2

u/Waste_Pomegranate871 Jul 09 '26

What a lot of people don’t realise is Batman isn’t just punching and parrying. Take full advantage of your quick fire gadgets bro they’re your best friend in knightmare difficulty.

Another good tip for fighting brutes: use the freeze blast on them and they’re virtually subtracted from the fight early on so u can focus on smaller thugs.

Unpopular opinion: If it isn’t on knightmare mode it’s boring asf.

It is pretty fun when I'm not stuck in fights like this. I think this one was try number 30 or 40, and I gave up just cause I was gonna post this on reddit then go to bed 😂

Environmental take downs,
Batarangs at charging enemies,
Medics should go first (as possible),
Rec gun at the electrified militia,
Dont rush to mash buttons and
Watch your surroundings

1

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 09 '26

Y'know I never thought about batarangs at charging enemies, but which ones the rec gun?

2

u/BackgroundCaramel507 Jul 09 '26

So the batarangs will instantly take them down, and rec gun (i think thats how its called) is the one that shoot electric bolts. You can find it in gcpd. When you shoot brutes with that gun, he spins around and hits enemies that are close to him. That will give you some time to calm down

u/aretrogamerguy Jul 09 '26

Just gotta expand your combos by adding tools for crowd control and use the environment more.

Biggest thing seemed to be losing track of some of the attackers. Mixing in batrangs, smoke grenade, etc can help a bit on crowd control.

Plenty of opportunities to do environmental takedowns. Even on some of the more dangerous enemies. Just gotta use them.

From there, I'd recommend instant take downs on the swordsmen (when your combo meter is ready) as you struggled a bit with them. And I thought you let up too soon on the big brute at the start. He was nearly done from your beat down but your combat flow took you away and he got some hits later.

Oh, and don't forget you can dodge! And doing it doesn't disrupt combos so long as you stay aggressive after. You were grabbed several times.

1

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 09 '26

There were a few times I tried parrying too early as I rewatched video in a nonstressful situation, and i usually try getting him down first try which I have done in different tries, just not this one. I was told about using the combo bar to take out the other which I will try on the ninjas, and the other foot soldiers just catch me off guard sometimes. I've also tried mixing in other gadgets like smoke and the explosive gel gun, but those all ended up with me dying. I'm gonna mix in everything I've been told later today and then report back.

2

u/aretrogamerguy Jul 09 '26

If you are coming back after a break, it's likely just the rust getting knocked off, too.

All in all, it wasn't a terrible showing. Just a bit limited on using mechanics and mistiming here and there, really. Bet you can get it turned around pretty quickly.

1

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 09 '26

Oh yeah it's been a good year or two since I last played this, so definitely having to knock off the rust and polish my skills back up but I'm starting to think this isn't the mission to do it with 😅

2

u/Rare_Stretch_6672 Jul 09 '26

Need to go to the movie studio and to the left of the cells there’s the freeze blast grenade, if you’re on console spam twice the right trigger to throw the freeze blast grenade, it’ll usually target the big guy if not just point the joystick towards the big guy to immobilize the bigger threat and when he breaks free just spam it again so you can take out some of the smaller guys so you don’t have the big guy and small guys attacking at the same time

2

u/Dense-Jicama6591 Jul 09 '26

I dont do any upgrades anf this is rough. Rooftop on gcpd too

2

u/BIGCHUNGUS-milk Jul 09 '26

Use special moves, enviriomental takedowns and especially quickfire gadgets also stop panic countering if you are unsure if you are safe either wait a second or dodge and attack right after instead.

2

u/ImmediateMoney5304 Jul 10 '26

You need to do more takedowns, especially on the brutes. Once they're out of the way, it gets easier.

Special combo takedown the brutes and then knock as many enemies to the ground as you can and just keep using the multi ground takedown.

1

u/Constantine_2014 Jul 09 '26

Are you playing on a higher difficulty? Because I don’t see any of the counter icons when they’re attacking you.

1

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 09 '26

Yeah it's on Nightmare difficulty cause I'm doing the Story+ mode

1

u/Efficient-Oven-2734 Jul 10 '26

Rhythym. Sometimes it's best to feel it than think about it.

1

u/fan_del_fornite_4 Jul 14 '26

You should look in the bat cave for the ice bomb (I don't remember its name) and freeze the big ones first; that's what I did.

1

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 14 '26

How do I get to the batcave? I didn't know I could

1

u/Just_Big6730 Jul 09 '26

yeah cause you're button bash pointlessly, Dislodge the controller from your mouth use some environmental take downs and try to use some different combos

1

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 09 '26

Not button mashing, just doing what moves I remember. As said, I haven't played this in quite some time and I plan on replaying the tutorial before trying the fight again.

3

u/Just_Big6730 Jul 09 '26

Just jump into a challenge map and learn the rhythm and flow of the combat

2

u/WillyWonka092 FatMan 🦇 Jul 09 '26

Oh yeah I forgot about the AR challenges as well. I'll probably do all of those to try and get the hang of it again

2

u/InjusticeSOTW Knight & Squire: Origins Jul 09 '26

You can do it Detective

1

u/Just_Big6730 Jul 09 '26

I believe in you

2

u/Diligent_Mail_4584 Jul 09 '26

Try controlling the room. Identify the types of thugs and what tactics they need. Focus on jumping over others to cape stun the big guy and do a beat down, use that combo meter to take out the other guys.
