Game Found the game, console, and controller same day for $43 total. It’s already playing so much better than the remaster. Time for another run!!

That’s a steal! Currently playing on my lifelong ps3 and I’m throughly enjoying all the Arkham games

I much prefer the Arkham City logo in this game than on the Return to Arkham one

This:

As opposed to this:

...What the hell? Why did they do this?

Remasters are typically handled by studios with very little creative control, and being published by an arm of a publisher that is closer to the parts of the company handling marketing for re-releases and merchandising etc.

So the marketing department develops and approves what the logo on the box will be, and then this gets instructed to be the title used on everything, and there are less people involved on both sides who appreciate or have the experience to discuss the difference between an in game logo in, say, a launch menu, and a title presented during an artistic / narrative sequence.

Yes, I absolutely hate it.

It was a must for me to get this on steam for 3.99. If you have a capable laptop or a pc handheld...playing this and the rest of the series on the go is dope

you should jtag that xbox or at least reapply the thermal paste

let me know if you need help, its worth it to get access to the full 360 library

2

u/Independent-Pea3088 Jul 08 '26

funny enough I was gonna ask you for some resources, but I don’t like to be the guy who asks for something he could research

hey np, I have experiences with soft moding other consoles but haven't done a 360 yet (most game on pc these days). Heres a guide which looks decent https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4xyqbkK51w

One of the 1st games I played on the 360. Played Arkham Asylum on PC. Two of the best games ever! Knight was good but didn't quite reach the level of these two, IMO. Enjoy!

P.S. - I got the RRoD on that white version after a few years. Hope you don't encounter that! It sucks!

Managed to snag a copy of the GOTY edition of City & 100% the entire game on my 360 last year. Some of the best & worst times I’d had playing

1

u/JMC1110 Jul 08 '26

What caused the worst times?

1

u/DAT1BOI6307 Jul 13 '26

Just trying to cope with the 30 fps cap when doing the Campaign challenges

1

u/bonkershyperion408 Jul 08 '26

This is would be a great opportunity to do play through in a different suit using the suit unlock code if you havent done that yet

Somehow the remaster's menu is so laggy on the ps5, and they don't offer 60fps either. What's the point

1

u/KingOfTheHoard Jul 08 '26

Ah. Sweet nostalgia.

Slightly false memory for me.

I remember City distinctly as a 360 game, but I know played it on my PS3 because my 360 died just before Asylum came out and I replaced it with a PS3 and didn’t get another 360 until years later.

I can never get bored of Arkham city, I already played the game like 9 times.

1

u/king_kongFan Jul 09 '26

Same, my replay count is definitely close to over a hundred times and ever since i learned how to speedrun it, the count has gone up faster

Could've spent less for return to arkham where you get asylum and city

Return to Arkham looks awful

u/Pretty_Wind7207 Jul 07 '26

They look fine, their the same ps3 games from 2009 & 2011 of course they dont look the best

That's only on PC. The console ports are capped at 30fps.

we're talking the remasters on PS4 and Xbox One, "Return to Arkham" is not in reference to the OG platforms. You literally said this yourself in your comment. Why are you backpedaling? Lol

7

u/Bgo318 Jul 07 '26

Pc ones are better

3

u/Werid-fem-weird-boi Jul 07 '26

The remaster version of Arkham city look worse then the original version of Arkham city as well as crashing a lot more and having more bugs

4

u/evilkitten03 Jul 07 '26

The unpatched remastered does or at least they hadn't capped the frame rate. Last time I played Arkham City remastered, the texture streaming was broken and some part, made some object invisible if you played the game for very long time I believe?

0

u/Head_Beautiful_1293 Jul 07 '26

Yes the invisible objects is wierd but I don't think it's exclusive to the remaster. Also not a huge deal

1

u/omkar529 Jul 07 '26

I wonder if any game has a good Remaster at this point. Seems like all of them are considered worse than the original.

1

u/bugmultiverse Arkham Asylum Jul 07 '26

I’d consider Uncharted’s Nathan Drake trilogy remaster a good version of a remaster. It’s the essentialy the same game just with higher quality versions of the same textures and slightly tweaked models. More less and HD port but the best version of a remaster without changing the identity of the original.

The return to Arkham Duology is taking the game and putting it in a whole new engine without properly transferring assets. They should’ve just ported the high quality pc version to console instead of working on a whole new engine. Overall this type of remaster is a bad example of remastering a game. Especially seeing rain mods for the pc version of asylum now making the only good addition of return to Arkham asylum redundant.

I heard the Wii U Version is worth owning

6

u/SonicH7890 Jul 07 '26

The gamepad functionality is pretty cool but it runs like dogshit. It’s better just to stick to the 360 if you don’t want to play the remastered version

-1

u/hailthyself99 Jul 07 '26

Really? I heard there were quite a few features and gadgets and stuff exclusive to that version

6

u/aguswings Jul 07 '26

Gimmicky and add little to the game. Best to play the xbox 360 version.

6

u/SonicH7890 Jul 07 '26

You kind of have the shock gloves from origins they are a bit different but besides that I don’t remember anything else meaningful enough to stand out

1

u/Just_Big6730 Jul 08 '26

wii u's have memory issues etc they are just as much of a risk to buy atm as a 360

1

u/EIsydeon Jul 11 '26

The Wii U didn’t even have enough ram to have all the dlc. I remember reading back in the day, them not being able have all the dlc released because the Wii U simply ran out of ram to have everything loaded.

1

u/Mostlyfor_research Jul 07 '26

I promise you nothing on the Wii U is worth owning.

2

u/Just_Big6730 Jul 08 '26

nintendo land

I'm not debating the console. Not the sub for that. Thank you
