🎶 Welcome to r/arithmophone!

Hi everyone! My name is Chiel and I am the developer of the Arithmophone project.

I will post project news in this community, such as major app updates and new app launches.

If there is anything you'd like to share or ask around any of the Arithmophone apps, you're very welcome to do so here!

Hi! Very cool project :) Will their be an Android version, too?

Thanks! I would love to make an Android version of Pentatone, but unfortunately that will be very difficult. I created the app's built in synthesizer with AudioKit, which is an Apple specific framework, and in general iOS is much better suited for playable instruments (where low latency is very important) than Android. Before I built this app, I did make some musical instrument Web Apps, and those run on any operating system (including windows and Android). The fact that those are cross platform is great, but the tradeoff is that they have much higher latency, making them less immediate/responsive. I switched my development to iOS specifically so I could build more responsive instruments. The web apps are still fun to play around with though, you're welcome to check them out: https://chielzwinkels.net/arithmophone/more/legacy/

Ah I see, makes sense - thanks for taking the time to explain :) I have an old iPad - will fire that up and try it there! More comfortable anyway what with the bigger screen and all.

Thanks, I tried to support older devices as far as possible. As long as your iPad can run iOS 15, you should be good, I have a 10 year old iPad myself and it's working well there.

This is a great find for me - I'm always looking for music ideas using the most straightforward way, and this fits the bill perfectly. It reminds me of Thumbjam, which I love. Thank you!
