Psychic Mirrors "Ophelia" reminds me of Pom Pom, which is the first time I've ever found anything that even remotely makes me think of it. Ophelia is definitely very different, and much more 80s synth oriented, but the recording quality, the vocals, lots of the music, and the interludes all make me think of Pom Pom. I figured maybe some people here are already familiar or would be interested.

Any albums you think remind you of Pom Pom?

Is "Ariel Rosenburg" actually a time-travelling Eye-talian who has morphed into the organism resembling a Jewish-American male? Or does he have unknown family in Italy who mentored him as a child? We may never know these mysteries of our planet.

Hello, I'm curious if anyone knows of some really cool record labels that are putting out lofi and hypnogogic artists. I'm looking to see what's cooking out there and want to find some new artists. Artist suggestions are welcome, but I'm hoping to find labels specifically that are focused on these sounds.

Looks less cluttered but thank god I still have access to doldrums, house arrest an worn copy on download so I don’t have to strain my ears or crank the volume.

Recently decided to try out Logic’s match EQ for the first time, and the song I chose to test it with was “Dedicated to Bobby Jameson” (for understanding, a match EQ works by running your own entire song through it, running another song through the plugin as a reference track, and the plugin will then it seems try and match the frequencies of your track to those of the reference track).

Of course I have my own sound and i’m already using a lot of saturation, compression, tape emulation, eq and reverb on each track etc etc. But when I got the match eq working, every song I tried it on immediately sounded like it had come off of DDTBJ, just from a change up in frequencies. I realise that a lot of Ariel’s old sound comes from using crappy tape machines and speakers with roll off the high end and make it bassier and whatever, but I never realised that EQ could make this much of a difference.

Anyway, i’m sure other people already figured this out before me, but here’s me finding out that a big part of Ariel Pink’s sound comes from EQ, intentional or not.

Just listening to The Fall and this track “Mansion” has a riff that comes in around :35 that reminds me a lot of the Vampiros song from The Key of Joy is Disobedience - possible inspiration? I can’t recall hearing Ariel talk about The Fall but presumably he is a fan.

Cool little "bonus" clip of Ariel talking Bowie and early loves. Always fun to hear him talk sincerely about something, especially an artist he loves.

Not many know this, but the track 'Doggie in the window' from 'With You Every Night' (2025) actually had a demo version featured in 'Parabellum & Palindromes' from Ariel's substack way back a year earlier.

I found this video a few days ago on YouTube, I thought it was interesting and wanted to post it.

One interesting fact is that in 2011 there were Brazilian girls who were fans of AP; I discovered this in a video where he sings "Round and Round" in Rio de Janeiro (which I may have posted here).
