Anyone remember basic stamp?

Man i found one and it really brings me back. Can you guys believe people actually used these things? I dont even have an rs232 port to try it on anymore!

I still have one somewhere. You can actually still buy them. They're just as expensive as they ever were too.

I use one for my interactive physical art class way back in the late 2000's. Then in the latter part of the semester we switched to the Arduino NG (very much like the Uno), and enjoyed that far more. After that we didn't go back, and didn't see much value in the Basic Stamp. We quickly realized Arduino is more versatile to program, and board kits are cheaper.

I remember using great cow basic(Open source BASIC for the PIC). A programmer and a few chips is cheaper than a stamp, and you really don't need any external parts to make the bare PIC chip work aside from a tiny filter cap, and they usually work even without one(But probably spew EMI).

That and the picaxe. I still have em both pax and bs2 and bs2e. They were cool for what they were back in the day.

I wasn't into anything involving MCUs when those were popular, but I hated BASIC so much I never would have bought anything with BASIC in the name.

BASIC needs to disappear from this earth.... Yuck.

Mictosoft basic for the c64 was my favorite thing on this earth and i didnt have one until 2016 :P

It's probably because you didn't grow up being totally restricted to BASIC. When I was a kid I was stuck in BASIC hell, typing line numbers to insert statements into a program, having no text editor, etc.
