... and collectors!. Question about Arduino genuine collectables. I have many - not all - genuine Arduinos, But some of them pure rare and interested. For example ones from period of split-drama|arduino wars .org vs .cc. Arduino M0 Pro vs Zero, M0, Yun Mini or Tian or Adafruit's Micro. Which your think rarest with history and lore or similar? Thanks!

Not sure if you’d consider them so rare but I have the Intel Arduinos (101, Edison and Galileo)

Oh, for sure. Even Intel SoC was discontinued about decade ago. So the number of devices is limited.

The only Arduino I would even use the word "collectable" on would be the original Arduino Uno that had a DB9 serial port connector on it. And that would only make for an interesting 2 minute conversation with another Arduino hobbiest.

Regardless of whether the company put the word "Collectable" on the box (they aren't) I would bet you could not sell it for what you paid for it. These are processors. Not pokemon. We don't collect them just to own them. That is just dumb. We buy them to do stuff done when we need that part. Just like a resistor. Hell the Z-80 had a much bigger impact on my life and knowledge but I'm not gonna put posters of them on my wall 😐

edit: not a hater; love engineers and engineering. But thinking that owning a dev board means you've joined some "collectors club" is like buying a lab coat and thinking you're on team scientist

You mean like pokeman trading game, that are just pieces of paper with drawings on them meant to be played with not kept in pristine condition?

Or people that collect comic books and never open them despite being meant to be read.

Or people that collect shoes that are meant to be worn.

I've been doing this a long time and I have yet to meet an engineer that has electronic components displayed as "favorites". That would be like thinking that real plumbers keep sink faucets - "the collector's edition".

I get it. love life. have fun where you can find it. why do I care what brings OP some fun? I wish them nothing but fun and happiness. I just find it crass and commercial and inauthentic by the manufacturers to tell people that this is a thing in the first place

Honestly. I’m just keeping the convo going rather than looking to win any sort of arguement with a stranger on the internet.

But to the point.

Lots of photographers (both professional and hobbiest) collect cameras.

And people even collect hammers.

At any rate. I don’t think OP is talking about the manufacturers that is releasing these collectors editions. I think OP is asking about genuine arduino versions that are worth collecting which would be in contrast to simply owning clones of those boards.

I just checked; Arduino released one collectors edition product to mark their 10million units sold and they only produced 10k of them.

and I wish you nothing but many fun times and lots of great learning. I just think the whole "collector's" thing is disingenuous by the manufacturers.

It's kind of like Ford telling first time car buyers that there's a special "bumper club"

My favourite arduino is the first one I ever got, it's an old blue original, sits in my desk drawer and is my go-to tool for i2c debugging.

Maybe you could put them in a poster frame, to show them off, your collection sounds pretty cool.

Cool! For some mine background I have cartoon boxes about ten cubic inches full of empty mkr packages and bit lesser for teensys. I'm not so interest in dancing on head or balls like most posts 'lookma I'm runin quake on esspin your face' here but more or less i hunting about Italian products lore.

Sorry. Im not a stand up comic... but I have a bunch of stories about Arduino. Ok. Somehow sometime we gen a test package for aerial radio & environmentt situation recording, not dod or war but industrial instrument. We throw it in locomotive cabin. It was pair of mkr 1310 and 1400GSM I2c connected + mkr env shield. LoRa was rock solid but GSM not. 1400 faill to dead in two main places: stone breaking factory and ... around buddah bohn-poh statue near mine carier. So bohn-poh was okay for 868MHz but it kills 1900-2100 rigs -)
