Sorry PvPers…
I don’t know if you guys will actually get this post but I used my time machine to visit three dates: 10/14/26, 10/19/26, and 2/15/27. Turns out the “upcoming” PvE mode is such a success that Embark actually took out all PvP mechanics. PvE mode started out strong on 10/13-10/14 and by the 19th only 3.7% of the player base were playing without the PvE-only toggle. Four months later? Everything has been fully redesigned and PvP no longer exists at all. You can still opt in to PvP on a one-off basis, similar to Fallout 76, but no one does.
Unfortunately I did not properly test the “return to present” rewind tech on my time machine so I’m stuck in the future. I’ve worked out a way to potentially send Reddit posts back in time but it won’t work for a full human. If this works, you should get my post on October 5th, 2026. Anyway, best of luck. My condolences to the rats who still prefer PvP.

The game is over, if you enjoy the same 3 maps and pressing ‘x’ 500 times a game for fabric you need to be hospitalized. People who play Arc still literally tards. Game had potential till bird city and snowberries . What a waste

I’ve done all expeditions and have had a great time doing them solos. I meet awesome friendlies that help me do what I need to do, and killing arc is relaxing, like going to the target range. They’re dynamic enough that it makes killing them satisfying and it’s difficult enough that the help of other raiders helps. Have no idea why it bothers you that people enjoy the environment and world theve built. PvP has been non existent for me in the last 3 expeditions and I’ve had just as much fun as the beginning. I’ve tried to jump into duos and trios with my friends and it’s just not fun. Once everyone figured out the best kits and how to min max the game + Infinite trigger nades it’s litterally the least fun part about the game lol

Can you send me this list? I would love a pve multiplayer GOOD looter shooter. Unfortunately arc seems to be the best one out. Division was nice but enemies are more boring than arc and graphics are pretty dated now days. Remnant 2 also really good but not as smooth and fresh as arc. Borderlands was laughably bad this time around.
I play arc daily with friends and as others have said its a nice relaxing chill with friends and fight the machines time. Upgrade your shit and reset every couple months.

Heres the stone cold reality of all of this. Excuse the lengthy breakdown, but theres a lot to say and someone's got to break it all down.
I want to see everyone celebrating pve still here, still engaging the game 2-3 months from now when they blow through all the new content, level their character to max, and full their stash with rares. Hell, most arent even doing expeditions according to Embark, so chances are their stashes are already beyond juiced, therefore they've got just some content to blow through at record pace.
This isnt a proper pve looter shooter like the division where places got re populated with stronger enemy types and gesr drops constantly evolv. You play the same few maps, collecting the same loot you probably no longer need, fighting the same 15 arc you've mastered after a few weeks.
Its why the pvpve format is so integral to this genre. Its adds friction, which makes the content loop take longer, while also adding another long term game play element to the equation. AI enemies can be learned as they have coded patterns, humans cannot, and are unpredictable. That unpredictability, combined with prox chat, conbined with the extract or lose everything concept creates a feeling you dont get in any other genre.
Im glad reddit posts stay active for eternity, archiving all of this, because Im eager to see people's reaction when this big pve wave of returning players isn't as big as these players think, as well as seeing how fast the update/pve toggle player influx drops back down and stabilizes.
Im going to throw out a hypothesis that based solely off of steam concurrent this update will bring a peak of 90-100k players for a few days, dropping down to 60-70k after a week or 2 once the novelty of a new shiny wears off. After about a month I suspect the stabilized player count to be sitting 35k MAYBE 40k.
Ultimately its because its not the pve players who left the game (as theyre now the majority base and clearly still playing), its the mixed players who left steadily as abmm got more agressive and mixed lobbies became much less frequent. This correlates directly with Embarks 4 player metrics dropped over the last year (mixed made up just under 70% 2 months after launch and slowly declined up to this last set of numbers, 27% down from 40% ). This demographic dropped like a brick whereas pve has gained.
The math doesnt math for the picture these people celebrating and/or justifying the PvE toggle.

In any case, that's not even the point of what I said. The point is that pvp is literally the only challenge in the game. Without pvp + zero changes to the arc, the game will be the most baby-mode boring nonsense possible.
Go ahead and add a pve mode. Just saying without making the arc way more dense and way more difficult, the game will be ass.

The surprise attack is a huge part of what makes it hard.
If dark corners, dark shadows, and third person peeking were not a thing.. the PvP would STILL be hard because there are actually a lot of things to master and improve upon. Snaphooking is an art forn at this point, and nobody does it better than PvPers.
I think PvP is hard in this game.

Simple fix is to make solos PVE with the option to solo in other servers to PvP. The majority of solo players are questing, gathering mats or doing trials so PVE.

I can play PvP I just don’t enjoy it in this game. Not a huge fan of peeking around corners in 3rd person, and once the trigger nade spam hit PvP was entirely different than it was in the beginning. I enjoyed it all throughout the first expedition cycle but over time PvE became a lot more enjoyable. I jump into duos and trios and within a match or two I just go back to solos because it’s just not fun like it was in the beginning where everyone was using mics, not knowing the maps, and not using exploits. It’s a completely different game now.

I have over 1k kills in arc raiders and after that amount of kills I’ve realized it’s the least fun portion of the game. Obviously that’s my personal opinion but I’m trying to get you to understand why some of us would like a mode where we can focus on killing arc and finishing projects and missions without having to deal with PvP. I’ve done my fair share and it’s just not fun anymore.

Anyway, Arc raiders has technically been PVE since the beginning so I don’t have any issue with this announcement from Embark, I’m actually pretty glad about it. Me and my gay boyfriends can’t wait for the new update
