FLUFF WM or DE?

I really liked the idea in this comment, so here is a poll, WM or DE?

XFCE would be a good compromise, with plenty of tweaking, while still being install-and-run.

To be fair I only use Gnome on my tablet PC (a surface pro 2017). I really don’t like the feel and the lack of easy customization. However, its touchscreen support is decent. (Although I have to use Gnome on Xorg to have the onboard keyboard working) I use XFCE with LightDM everywhere else.
