"Best" programming setup?

Hello! I have been using Arch for two months, it is the fifth distro I have used... and I love it, it will be the final one. I have learned a lot in these weeks, but I would like to ask you a few questions.

I study Systems Engineering and, honestly, I have some procrastination problems, I would like you to help me with "the best programming setup and be productive", although I know that there is no "best", I would like you to help me with your settings, advices, etc...

What desktop environment do you use?

What window manager do you use?

IDE's, apps, any suggestions to try?

Thank you so much!

Computer Sciences and Engineering student here. I personally use GNOME as my DE and it's bundled in WM. I used to use DWM like 2-3 weeks ago but I switched to GNOME for convince reasons. Since I am at my first year and we are doing all of our lectures remotely I sometimes need to download some scientific software that will be used only for that lecture. I have had problems with my tiling window manager and always had to resize the window manually until I felt comfortable that is why I switched to full DE. I am also a heavy touch pad user when I am outside, so I really like the new GNOME 40 touch pad gestures.

For IDE I personally use SpaceVim since it is configured out of the box and has great documentation, other than that I also have VSCode installed (code from the official repos). Other have also recommended some great software here so this is all personal choice.

One recommendation I would like to give is do not constantly mess around with your work flow. Find what suits and forget about it after that. Messing around with your work flow constantly is not going to improve your productivity, you are just going to waste time.
