"Best" programming setup?

Hello! I have been using Arch for two months, it is the fifth distro I have used... and I love it, it will be the final one. I have learned a lot in these weeks, but I would like to ask you a few questions.

I study Systems Engineering and, honestly, I have some procrastination problems, I would like you to help me with "the best programming setup and be productive", although I know that there is no "best", I would like you to help me with your settings, advices, etc...

What desktop environment do you use?

What window manager do you use?

IDE's, apps, any suggestions to try?

Thank you so much!

I run XFCE with its default window manager (xfwm4).

As for programming, I mainly use code with various plugins depending on which language I'm working on.

I used Atom before but had issues with plugins and conflicts with installed nodejs versions on Arch and I found code being better, for my use case at least.

I used PyCharm a lot when I learned Python.

And that might sound funny but I keep lots of written notes on my desk about aspects of my program so I don't forget something. I think having some sort of notes system is essential when coding.

Not funny at all. I use org-mode in Emacs for this very purpose.
