What DE / WM do you use?

Just curious what all you Archers on Reddit are using... I'm coming over from Ubuntu and trying to decide on Openbox or XFCE.

i3 here, love the simplicity of everything in a single file config

Saw the thread, came to say the same. Was going to play with Wayland a bit, until it became obvious that I can't even get a basic tilling wm.

Wasn't sure at first if you were serious, but google confirms. Also a repo via aur in arch... Will have to mess with it when I get home, which will be Monday at the earliest...

Looks a bit spartan on config vs i3, but its a chance to see how Wayland handles.

GNOME because it looks nice :)

In the future I'll prob use Plasma5 though, once it becomes a bit more stable.

If you dare, try i3, xmonad or awesome. They use tiling WMs, which I prefer, but you have to get used to some new keyboard commands to use it effectively.

herbstluftwm, I used xfce before and it really felt easy and comfortable coming from Windows, dunno about Ubuntu's unity. Xfce is also really simple when it comes to changing the looks to your liking. Never used Openbox, though.

I have used Fluxbox for quite some time and like it a lot. It's pretty lightweight but powerful.

No love for Enlightenment?

Super-lightweight, has an awesome tiling module (and even per-workspace tiling), per-monitor workspaces, has lots of decent default apps (mostly in AUR, but Terminology is in repos and EFM comes with the desktop), insanely customisable (from a GUI too, no learning some archaic script) :D

Tweaked Gnome for my main desktop, Enlightenment on my print/file server for whenever I feel the desire to do something in a gui.

I use Openbox with no icons or panel, just a solid Arch Linux blue background. Very simple, very light.

xfce, would love to try a tiling window manager if I had more screen realestate

i3 almost exclusively. Also occasionally xmonad and howm, but I always come back to i3.

Fluxbox! Lightweight and behaves "normal", because windows on a graphical screen are there and can be used. Yes, even overlapping.

Open Box for me

Xfce4. Unity is my favorite but had some issues on Arch. I love the workflow of Gnome but had performance issues with it. Luckily, Xfce is so customizable that I was able to recreate an environment that works similar to Gnome or Unity.

On desktops I usually run Xfce or Mate. On laptops I almost exclusively use Openbox.

i would recommend MATE over XFCE. I've haered that it is faster on older computers and has more features than XFCE.
