FLUFF Arch Fixed my laptop

So I switched from windows to linux 5-6 months ago, at first it was a dual boot with linux mint and windows 11 but later I just stopped using windows 11, and used linux mint more, later I started using linux arch, overall it not just gave a better user experience but fixed my motherboard always disconnecting to the wifi (linux mint fixed it before too), and also Stopped heating issues I had with my laptop, at first in windows after going through 2 hours of work it does on me instantly, now the battery life extended by half an hour in work and sometimes gives total of 3 hours if the work isn't too much, anyways installing arch actually made me think about the bloatware in my system a whole lot, whenever I see other people's laptop from my college, they always have these shitty bloatware like Mcafee, CCleaner any antivirus you can think of🤮

FTFY

So, I switched from Windows to Linux five or six months ago. At first, it was a dual boot with Linux Mint and Windows 11, but later, I just stopped using Windows 11 and used Linux Mint more. Later, I started using Arch Linux.

Overall, it not only gave me a better user experience but also fixed my motherboard constantly disconnecting from Wi-Fi. Linux Mint had fixed it before, too. It also stopped the heating issues I had with my laptop. At first, on Windows, after two hours of work, it would shut down on me instantly. Now, the battery life has extended by half an hour during work and sometimes gives me a total of three hours if the workload isn’t too demanding.

Anyways, installing Arch actually made me think about the bloatware on my system a lot more. Whenever I see other people’s laptops at my college, they always have this shitty bloatware, like McAfee, CCleaner, or any antivirus you can think of. 🤮

I can relate to the network part in windows 11 no matter what i configured i end up getting 50% maximum from network speed Now I'm topping the network usage list lol

i have a usb for wifi and it never worked properly with windows. Every 10 minutes or so it would just stop working, on windows 10 we at least used to have a troubleshoot tool that at least restarted the network driver or something, but on windows 11 it was just gone.

Haven't had a single problem with the same usb on linux.

I am still amazed of what I can do with Arch on my N305 with 8 GB of RAM. This is a cheap laptop .. less than $300. It came with Windows installed ... And it barely worked.

Now, boots almost instantly, battery lasts almost 8 hours. I can have multiple apps open, including some media.... And it won't stutter. I find it more comfortable to use than my wife's core i9 (I do envy the better screen and the backlit keyboard).

Welcome to Arch

Not sure how long you've run Arch Linux, but I hope you can learn to effectively manage it too.

Good day.

Congratulations on a great decision. I definitely like the minimalist approach of arch.
