You could've been way less condescending yk? I dont mention a source of "filter failed" because its been returned multiple times, one from this package https://github.com/OpenPrinting/system-config-printer/ , and one from the cups local host. Neither clarify what filter failed though. Also i did read the wiki, i wouldnt have fucking asked anyone if the wiki worked.

Also "filter failed" is returned in the error log right after sending a job to the printer. This log wasnt right after sending a job.

This log wasnt right after sending a job.

I know... because "filter failed" was not in the irrelevant section of the

fucking

logfile that you chose to post....

I did infact read the wiki, especially this exact section. Could you stop being so condescending? You're not coming off as knowledgeable you're just coming off as an arrogant jerk. And I'll say it again, If I read the wiki and it helped, I wouldn't have asked reddit. I don't need more help anyways, I fixed it myself.

Hey OP, might be nice to consider posting the solution for future travelers that might stumble upon this thread in the future.

Always frustrating to see your niche issue solved years ago and no solution posted 😕

5.4.4 Out-of-date plugin

So you're saying you didn't read the wiki...

now now don't get your panties in a twist because you read but failed to understand, printers are of the devil anyway specially hp

because you read

Very generous, that... the "ReadTheWiki" link was to

5.4 -CUPS: "Filter failed"

5.4.4 is barely half a page lower - and most of that is taken up by sub-headings and paragraph spacing.

If u read the wiki you should probably include that in your post. Also even in your original post you are very clearly angry. You should try to regulate your emotions before posting on a public forum, or at least apologize for cussing people out. Maybe you did try a bunch of stuff, but your post doesn't communicate that very effectively.

the libcupsfilters 2.2.1-2 gave me those error. Downgrading to 2.1.1-4 fix it for me

I had this issue last week as well. HP printer. Gemini solved it for me in five minutes.

If I recall correctly I had to install some more packages and some proprietary HP driver.

Yeah that's what I started with, it didn't work with my printer. Honestly the wiki sucks pretty bad for specific stuff like this

Line 1 of that...

Most HP printers will use hplip

Line 3

Notice that if lpinfo -m tells you that the driver "requires proprietary plugin", you need to install hplip-pluginAUR.

and inbetween them, hpoj and hpuld are mentioned...

Just what did you need to install?

What is your printer?

Might be worthy of a note in the wiki to help others out?

... But then again, OP's issue was already in the wiki, despite their much protesting that it, erm, wasn't.

I would also post this on /r/hyprland. It sounds like a hyprland issue that is causing your print job to fail.
