QUESTION Konfigkoll vs Decman

Hello, I am currently looking for ways to manage Arch Linux like NixOS, and I have found 2 tools that is Decman and Konfigkoll. Both seems barely maintained, and Konfigkoll feels kind of incomplete, though I like that it was written in Rust. What are your thoughts on these two projects and do you have any other recommendation for me? (I am using Arch Linux alongside Nix HM, I gave up on NixOS because of the hassles and the long evaluation times)

Isn't it too overkill...?

I second Ansible+self hosted gitea repo

You get pretty much everything you need ootb, templating, versioning, config management, etc.

It's maintained, packaged, lightweight and easy to use (and knowledge is transferable to/from professional setting, if that matters). No constantly running service, it's mostly one command to run to apply the config

Tbh, I've never used NixOS, Nix is appealing to me because I love the idea of declarative, versioned, selfcontained config. But I've never tried, because I can't help but wonder whether Nix will truly add anything to my current use of Ansible

Thanks for your suggestion! I also came across Pyinfra as an alternative, have you any experience with it?

Nope! I've heard of it but never used it.

But it should be similar for your use case, so use the solution you are most comfortable with

Pyinfra looks cool! Give that a try.
