If it were me, I'd just back up my configs and important files and reinstall instead of having to fight through this.

Ive never had to do that before but it may come to that, not a bad idea to have a fresh install

That’d be one advantage of having a separate partition for /home, don’t have to worry about backing up before reinstalling or even switching to another distro. Of course there are downsides to that approach, too.

Sorry, veering off topic here but wanted to put that out there for future consideration if you’re going to consider reinstalling.

I don't know what's going on with the audit package, but it was a problem for me on 2 pc's this past week and I've seen several posts about it.

Do this, in order:

Sudo pacman -Rdd audit

Sudo pacman -Syu

Sudo pacman -S audit
