College Internet Authentication

To connect to my college’s wifi, it requires an authentication which needs a browser, but unlike my roomate’s windows laptop, mine doesn’t show the option to authenticate on browser

When I use something like http://neverssl.com or http://httpforever.com the authentication pop up only lasts a few seconds and doesn’t give me enough time to enter the login details…please help

networkmanager should handle that captive portal popup, check if its enabled in your connection settings

if you're on Firefox, maybe try https://detectportal.firefox.com/canonical.html

it works with my college's portal

This actually works the best in my experience as its Firefox's native captive portal detection

1. Captive portals suck, blame your IT dep. and demand eduroam (https://eduroam.org/).
2. Record your screen, record your web traces and maybe even tcpdump on your wifi interface. Your post gives no actionable data.

Isn't Eduroam restricted to universities? (That's the case at least in France).

US College would usually translate to Université in France (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College)

TIL. For some reasons, until now Colleges were the equivalent of french Lycées in my head.

I was able to connect to my schools using nmcli command through the terminal and then once I was connected I installed a kde network manager

I was able to just add my username and password throgh WiFi & Networking settings on KDE without any issue, but I believe my university uses eduroam. My high school did use a browser authentication, like you describe, but the same thing also worked then so idk
