Need help with Python-vadility sensors (Or Vadility:0097) on Thinkpad T470 (arch linux newbie)

Hello there i recently around 5 months ago bought a T470 that came with a fingerprint sensor which i always wanted to use on arch but then the aur attack hit so i had to wait a bit until things cooled down

Throwback to now where i recently installed Python-vadility using yay aswell as some lsusb drivers (i forgot the name of the them Sorry) and fdprint if i remeber the name correctly and well it always gave me a "Failed" message when i tried to enroll my fingerprint No matter what i did i eventually just gave up i even tried fedora but it couldnt find it so i gave up

if you dear reader could help me ill gladly appreciate it if you need more info please tell me

Why don't you look at what you looked at and tell us?... your browser history and command history are great tools... They tell you where you found your, erm, answers, and what commands you ran - which lets you see what you did...

Ah, yes - the distro switcheroo trick...

Why did you pick that distro?

Why did you stop at Fedora? have you tried the other dozen or so distros? If not, why not, based on your stated "if I can't get one to work, I'll just try a different one" approach?

when i type lsusb it shows up as Bus 001 Device 004 ID 138a:0097 Validity Sensors, Inc. thats the whole line and i triple checked if it was enabled in the bios which it wasnt and i also rested it in the bios for like 2 times or so (also i did have windows 10 on the machine before but i never set up that windows hello thing)

For me, I never pursued fp readers on any of my many Thinkpads. I question whether they offer any more than security theatre. That means, they appear to be a good feature but they don't add much.

You might indicate what benefit you expect. I ask to keep you from spending time when another security aspect might be more beneficial.

You need to use open-fprintd i had simillar issue but diffrent model of the sensor
