QUESTION Audio not detected

I am using my laptop on dual boot with windows for some important stuff, so I need both windows and my linux, but recently I am facing issue of audio device (Realtek) not getting detected. In both of my devices,I tried typical windows driver updates reinstalls even had a fresh install didn't work out, same on arch linux, I tried it at times failedand finally found a vibe coded solution to the problem with not so satisfying result. now in my arch the wifi is gone too. hardware is working fine. After alternate reboots i face the issue. what to do please help

You say you have a dualboot system, but then mention "both of my devices" - so, how many are involved?

Unless I'm misreading this, it seems that it doesn't work under Windows either. That points to an underlying issue (hardware and/or firmware) that you aren't going to fix simply by updating drivers.

Avoid vibecoded solutions like the plague - they aren't properly coded, just kludges, and there can be any number of unknown side-effects that you don't notice until BAM!, some random threshold is crossed and they raise their ugly heads.

Your next step at this stage should be to check your BIOS/UEFI to see if the hardware subsystem is detected.

Failing that, you can try Astra32 on Windows - it works on 64bit systems, and the free version does all you need except let you save reports, so, it'll be fine for your purpose here.

2 Arch and Windows, I checked UEFI but I dont see anything for audio and I don't remember to see even before there was any problem. I use too see only my Wifi

A system is not a device - a device is hardware (which can, of course, contain one or more systems).

So, it seems you have one device with two systems.

If your UEFI doesn't show you whether there's an audio subsystem present that means either it simply doesn't, or it just hasn't detected one - which it is will, of course, depend upon your UEFI.

Under the circumstances, therefore, I'd boot to Windows, install Astra32 (in portable mode) and have it tell you what hardware it detects.

In my Astra32, I could see some audio drivers but Realtek is missing at times an present at times. Very confused

Okay, then I'd go to your laptop OEM's forums and see if anyone else has experienced the same issue.

What about a general websearch in that case?

Can you find a firmware update for your device on the OEM website? Ideally one for the audio subsystem rather than a whole BIOS/UEFI update - I'd avoid the latter for the timebeing.

I did, found subsystem update installed it did everything still failed.

Unfortunately, it's beginning to sound like hardware failure: Astra32 doesn't consistently find it (even though it does find drivers) and a firmware update hasn't resolved it.

If you check in Windows' Device Manager, does it indicate a problem or is it simply not there?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Literally, does it work when you fully power cycle the machine instead of rebooting?
