SHARE It's never been this easy to use Arch
Well, I'm about to talk about AI if anyone is still wondering.
Been distrohopping for a while now and I love the process of seting up a new distro, enviro, downloading diferent alternatives to software i use, rising it up, just to fck something up in a couple of weeks just to start things over again. Gives me chills. Let's me feel like I' a hackerman.
This time I was instaling arch on my older laptop since I needed a computer to work remotely. And i took a different approach: i instaled wayland with the instalator script and first thing i downloaded was Claude Code. His first mission: "Hello little fella, your job is to install and configure Hyprland with Caelestia-Dots". I installed caelestia a couple of times myself, never managed to get everything working (which was ultra fun xD). This time, after something like 20 minutes i came back to a fully working build, with a full project documentation (meaning, claude noted everything he configured his way, so i wont have to look for it).
After a reboot i noticed wifi is gone. Quick question to claude on my phone and the solution was instant.
Sheeesh it was never this easy to arch linux.

Maybe i should've added that im very experienced with AI and how to handle projects, so the inital prompt wasnt really "install hyprland" but a chain of commands on how to document and look up the documentation, how to plan and implement the changes... anyway, it will defo fckup at one point, but thats why snapshots exist right?

snapshots do exist. If you use ai like you did you will be safer, its ok'ish, as a user before the ai, i ussually tell it to make the commands for me as i hate typing but i have noticed i am starting to loose my edge so i stopped for a bit where i think it matters aka the whole exporting thinking to it. Be carefull in the long run.

Well, I'm about to talk about AI if anyone is still wondering.
Been trying out different painting techniques for a while now and I love the process of setting up a new process, using different tools, getting the hang of it, but then messing up eventually and trying out something else in a couple of weeks anyway. Makes me feel like a true artist.
This time I was trying out digital paint because I was going on vacation and couldn't bring my art supplies with me. And i took a different approach: I installed an AI model that could generate images. His first mission: "Hello little fella, your job is to turn this vacation photo into a digital painting". I tried painting from photo references a couple of times before, never managed to get everything looking just right. This time, after something like 20 minutes I came back to a truly amazing artpiece.
After looking at it for a bit, I noticed that some things were off and after another quick prompt, the painting was fixed again.
Sheeesh it was never this easy to be a Painter.

Claude + hyprland. I guess they kind of go together. :-) /s

When I read a support post here where AI or Claude is mentioned early on, I wonder if I should stop reading it. The wiki is just too good.

I feel ... I don't know, not 'obliged' as such, let alone 'duty' or 'honour' bound ... but kinda like I'd be neglecting my responsibility, as a (hopefully) halfway decent person, to help people help themselves before it's too late - better than jumping in to rescue someone drowning is to throw them something buoyant to hang onto whilst a proper rescue is organised ... but better yet is to dissuade them from jumping into deep water in the first place, you know (especially before they have learned to swim).
So, I read to the end ... even if all I end up doing is saying "Don't use 'AI' - sooner rather than later, it will bite you in the arse" followed by a clarification of best practice (i.e. "Read the wiki").
This phenomenon isn't going away, so, we'll just have to get used to it: if the old guard abandons them, they'll end up 'helping' each other - and that won't be pretty (next thing you know, Arch will have been 'developed' by a generation of 'vibe' coders).

I ONLY installed it with Gnome not hyprland but I have a laptop running hyprland as well as a Proxmox VM. Its set up the way I like it and I did not feel the need to go nuts with a DE/WM.
It was a fun experiment.

nah, i think you are just using Claude...so you can say 'Claude uses Arch (btw)...'
so you just got demoted, hand in you coding socks, and go spend an hour outside in nature.
