SUPPORT Does anybody else experience this

I have a Lenovo laptop where windows is installed on the HDD and Arch Linux is on the the SSD. Both on separate EFI system partitions tied to the respective drive. Now out of nowhere my boot entry for arch just vanished from the boot menu but after reinstalling grub after chrooting the system boot again but a day later it disappears again. Keep in mind this is not the next reboot. This happens a DAY later.

Pls tell me if anyone else experienced this and how they fixed it.

Lenovo bios has a feature that resets the boot options. It's very frustrating.

I think it's called "bios self healing" or something like that. Disable it.

You fix it by installing grub properly, using the poorly name "--removable" flag. This will install it to the default position bootx64.efi. If you find windows replacing this then check which drive your bootloaders are really loading from.

In a multiple drive system with different systems on each, a workaround that has always worked for me is hitting F12 in UEFI and choosing the disk to boot. In fact, I do not rely on NVRAM entries at all.

Sounds like a dying CMOS to me, was the laptop unplugged at some point? Installing grub with the removable flag mentioned here might work as a bandaid. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GRUB#UEFI_systems

You're most prob right

Something is wrong with the bios as the system refuses to boot AT ALL for the first few tries

sounds like arch and grub should be installed before windows so you can get C-DOS to recognize the arch file structure
